$120 budget case with no mesh on top? (case modders get in here) - Page 2

- Side panel mesh for case fans is fine, but no fans on top.
- Absolutely no windowed side panels.
- MUST be black
- Nothing extremely flashy (no gaming cases)
- Preferably box shaped like the 650D
- Standard ATX

Basically cases that are very good for case modding. Only I will not be modding mine. I just want the top to have no mesh so kids don't pour beer into my PC.

Similar to these cases:

Anyone know any similar cases?

Why not just get the Lian LI?

Well I want to see some other examples before just straight out buying the Lian Li.

My vote goes to the Lian Li PC-9F. Solid case, very well built and looks excellent. It actually has a cutout up top for a mesh grill, but by default comes with the hole filled with a sold piece of aluminum.

Corsair just released 2 new cases today that are definitely worth taking a look at super sleek and very sexy.
One is another case to add to the on going obsidian series the 550 D:

http://www.corsair.com/obsidian-series-550d-mid-tower-quiet-case.html

and the other is a new model for their newest carbide series the 300 R:

The latter is only 89.99 so it is in your budget, though the topper one is like 160 or around there ( already x'd out of it)

cheers!

Antec Sonata or Solo line might be what you're looking for if you want simple and sleek.

Man, that top one looks really sweet. But for that price I could just buy the 650D, and that much money is too much for a case if you ask me! It certainly looks amazing though +Rep!

So the suggestions seem to show the PC-9F and PC-K7B. Is there any real difference between them that is worth the extra $25?

Also, kind of random but is it possible to cut through the motherboard tray steel to make the CPU cutout bigger? If so what tools would I need?

Some cases are worth the extra money, will get you more features/expandability for future stuff.

As for the cpu cutout, just need a dremel.
