Our government intervenes a lot actually. Just in negative ways. We have regulations that promote monopolies. Every monopoly in the US is government backed. I could go on, but I digress. This is good news for British customers, now if only we could try that Capitalism thing over here we might have competition and growth instead of stagnant monopolies.

buahahaha

Look into the economic history of New Zealand. NZ isn't used for case studies of monopolies (and how they can go really badly wrong) in college economics classes for nothing lols. Quit ya whining. Monopolies and duopolies. That's NZ.

I'm liking the look of the new VM TV box, but then I'm also thinking of doing a HTPC to hook up to the network I'm in the process of mapping out.

Must be nice living in a country the size of a couple US States with a population to match...
Much easier to run these fast lines.

Guys, im with Virgin at the moment, its the worst ISP ever.

Look at my support thread: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Up-to-50Mb-broadband/This-is-getting-annoying-now/m-p/873085/highlight/false#M91442

Its crap, I can hardly use internet at peak times, had the problem for several months now without resolution, all because they are still getting new subscribers on the same UBR.

I just got E-mail from VM biggrin.gif
This is the important part tongue.gif

"As part of this upgrade, you may have seen we'll be doubling many of our customers' broadband speeds. But, because you already get our fastest broadband, we're upgrading you to up to 120Mb and giving you a discount instead. "

Funny enough I'm on 50Mb
On the bad side they will upgrade my area between October and June 2013 so yea I'm kinda disappointed it will take so long but as they say you don't look a gift horse in the mouth wink.gif

Maybe you should have studied English instead of "Economics". Yeah I'm aware of NZ and it's terrible Government that has done nothing but exploit others. I never said Government backed monopolies were exclusive to USA did I? That's right, no. So stop trying to fail argue and get me some Wool, since that's all NZ is good for anyway.

Grats to All UK broadband owners =]

Much easier to run these fast lines.

Then what is stopping each State matching UK speeds or even higher?

The size of America is not the reason for your poor internet deals. It's the lack of competition.
