LOL pets. i couldn't get enough of pokemon when i was a kid(biggrin.gif), and the armor and music ... oh wow.
I just hope the cutscenes aren't too long, because that'll piss off my inner child real quick.

I absolutely ADORED the battle system in XIII.. The linearity is what really upset me.

sounds like I'll definitely be buying this one.

Ahem, Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. tongue.gif

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII (Japan only)
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII

Crisis Core was fantastic, Dirge of Cerberus was fun at times and had a pretty decent story (assuming you like Vincent), Advent Children was kind of stupid (but pretty). Shame we never got Before Crisis, but you know how Square likes to remake games on other platforms (i.e. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and coded).

Why is it called XII-2 and not XIV?

7 & 12 were the only ones I didn't enjoy. Bad characters and plot development. 12 just had bad gamelplay on top of that.

Same, I thought 7 was garbage. I really disliked the PS1 FF games from 7-9. My favorite is by far FFVI.

Finished playing an hour or so of the demo. All-in-all, it's awesome. thumb.gif

I put 207 hours into XIII and got the platinum trophy for it - so needless to say I loved XIII. I give Square lots of credit for taking a fresh approach on JRPG battle systems and not reusing the same-old method. What's even better is that this battle system works well.

For those that don't like being able to control only one character during combat, you have to look at it kind of like Mass Effect. Your given control over a squad and can change their roles on the fly. Which roles they play will determine the outcome of the battle. It's really kind of like a team-based MMO battle. Sentinel is your tank, Synergist is your buff, Saboteur is your de-buff, Commando is your hack and slash, Ravager is your offensive spellcaster, and Medic is your healer.

I don't think most people got to see the really challenging battles in XIII. Some can last 30 minutes or more. Fortunately, it feels like they up'd the difficulty a bit in XIII-2.

I don't care for the bit of open-world element their trying to stick into the game by adding fetch quests but I'm sure that will cater to all the Skyrim fans who love running around being everyone's slave. "Go get me 2 med-caps!" "Okay, Yes sir!"

The new crystarium looks interesting. I haven't quite figured it out yet. It looks like you can only dedicate each orb to specific roles forcing you to advance each character to specific roles instead of being able to max out all the roles.

I like the system of discovering monsters and making them part of your paradigm deck. I hope Eidolons make a comeback.

Finally! Someone else who shares my appreciation for XIII. I really, really don't understand the hate for it. Besides the lack of towns there's literally nothing to complain about, the characters are likeable and unique, the voice acting is great, the storyline is great, the atmosphere and environments are great, not to mention the battle system is challenging to play with.

I think a lot of people are too busy holding onto FF7 with nostalgia goggles to actually notice that this game is the perfect example of a modern Final Fantasy. I'm also willing to bet that anyone complaining about linearity hasn't even gotten half way through yet.
