Best "PCI"... YES "P-C-I" for around $50-$60... Don't Laugh ;)

It's not for me One of the guys I work with has a HP with no AGP or PCIe slot and wanted to know if I could do anything. He wants better performance and the ability to play older games (not like DOOM I, but not F.E.A.R). I told him that if he bumped his ram up to 1 gb (ddr 2700) and got a PCI video card, he should see a big leap in performance ( I would think anyway ). He has 512mb ddr 2700 and 64 mb is allocated to video ram with a 2.66 ghz pentium 4 (no HT).

Thing is... I don't know whats a good card and what's better than what out of the possible cards. That's where I need help. I'll even mention you guys, so you get credit

Seems like newegg has a 5500, 5200 and 9250...

Thanks guys.

We will even be able to play oblivion , with that card....(low everything)
It's the best that you can buy for such money!?
How is it possible to have a board with no GPU interface?
Can you take a picture and send it ?

I'd say a 9250 would do fine for him:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102533

A lot of those OEM boards lack PCI-E or AGP. You often see the location where they belong, but there just not there. I think the ASUS Goldfish and those type of boards are examples.

Take a look... 3 PCI slots, and a clear scar where the AGP slot was supposed to be

Exactly what Chozart said. Here's a bad example(I don't remember his model) but his has a "scar" where the AGP port should be. mobo

I'll look for that 6200... Thanks guys.

The BEST PCI card is the Nvidia 5700 LE. I had a crappy comp for long time and had to do with a PCI card, so I did a lot of research and found that the 5700 LE is the best. Why? Because it can be massively overclocked for a 80% performance increase. Trust me on this one.

Haha, replace the AGP port with a (now badly placed) ATX power connector, Thanks HP!

The 6200 (but try and miss the TC model) or a 5500/5700 would be good as said above.

Just a FYI, but there isn't TC for PCI.

@ Chozart, that AGP port made me shrug for a moment.
