[Sap] Sapphire Z77 Motherboard - Page 2

P67 and Z68 support PCI-E 3.0 in single card setups. You need a Z68 GEN 3 board to support multi-GPU setups running PCI-E 3.0.

The only point is to release something "newer", market it, and generate more sales. As some noobs believe, newer = better.

Hopefully they'll bring in good motherboards for good prices. I've always like their graphics cards.

Yes, but from what I understand, you also need a motherboard with the appropriate switches to enable PCI-E 3.0 (remember the Gigabyte/MSI/Asrock Gen 3 saga?)

If you are using a motherboard that supports SLI, then yes you need PCIe 3.0 switches on there to enable PCIe 3.0.

If you are using a motherboard that does not support SLI, PCIe 3.0 support is guaranteed.

Never knew that before.

So, which motherboards do not support SLI? I think support for both SLI and Crossfire is the trend nowadays, as it has been for a while.

H61 and H67 motherboard is guaranteed to have PCIe 3.0 on its x16 slot.

For P67 and Z68, if it uses x8/x8 configuration, then it needs PCIe 3.0 switches. Otherwise x16 or x16/x4 will be in PCIe 3.0.

Wasn't the last Sapphire board that was released an utter piece of junk? I get the concept of diversification but seriously...
