Need new 2.1 speakers - Page 11

I thank you pioneerisloud. Really you said receivers have more power. Sorry.

It seems that Polk PSW505 is end of life. Do you have any other suggestion?

Is any of these two compatible with DTA-100a? "30 Volts DC"

FSP120-AXB
http://www.fsp-group.com/english/1_product/2_detail.asp?mainid=5&fid=95&proid=423

FSP120-AXC
http://www.fsp-group.com/english/1_product/2_detail.asp?mainid=5&fid=95&proid=586

Note the difference between them below.

FSP120-AXB’s AC Socket: IEC60320 C6
FSP120-AXC’s AC Socket: IEC60320 C8

If any or both are compatible, we have to choice one that has an AC socket compatible with DTA-100a power cable, or purchase a separate cable compatible with C6 or C8.

Correction:

FSP120-ADB = C6

FSP120-ADC = C8

Output Voltage: 30VDC

Honestly, I'm not sure about the power supply. I haven't done that "mod" myself yet. I was planning on just taking my stock one down to Radio Shack and buying one that fits correctly there.

All right, my friend. I will research more and if I find any info, I come here to tell you.

You said that the BIC is slow to music. So you recommended the Polk. So I ask you, why not Dayton SUB-1200, or is it much worse?

The Dayton SUB1200 is a good budget sub, but you're looking at $200ish subs. It's a little too boomy to recommend in that budget range. It's a good sub, don't get me wrong. It's just that at the $200-230 ish price mark, there's better options.

Do you think an 8-inch driver subwoofer is too small to achieve low frequencies?

Because I was thinking of partially follow the suggestions of a member of AVS forum and mix it to the suggestion of another guy. See:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=21350508#post21350508

http://www.macworld.com/article/160417/2011/06/how_to_build_your_own_airplay_audio_system.html

Hence the following set:

Energy CB-5
Outlaw Audio M8

Note that I chose smaller satellites due to the smaller size of the sub, resulting in harmony and space saving for the computer room. But I don’t know whether it makes sense. That is, if the size of the satellites is about the size of the subwoofer.

That 8" driver claims 29Hz. It's only 125w RMS, I find it hard to believe it'll go that low, although it could. I would feel more comfortable with something larger myself.

pioneerisloud, your posts are very helpful for me. Thanks.

I'm trying to find the "sweet spot" of 2.1 computer speakers.

Dayton DTA-100a seems to be perfect because its size and it is a T-Amp which has a volume control in its front panel. Especially because it match well with Fiio E9 on the desk since both together take up little space.

What I have not found are ideal speakers and an ideal subwoofer.

I know there are several good "bangs for the buck" out there, but I wouldn't like to choose randomly, if you catch my drift. I don’t want to spend my choice in promotions of American stores because here in Brazil the prices are different. The MSRP or the long time prices are the reference to me.

Please, bombard me with a ton of recommendations in this route.
