AM2 Cooler that doesn't need mounting bracket

Thread Starter
Hey everyone.

Well I got a terrible scare when I got home yesterday and found my HSF has "fallen off" of my cpu and was presently sitting on top of my video card. Upon further inspection one of the plastic hooks on the mounting bracket had snapped off! While I am trying to get in touch with ASUS over the matter I feel a simpler, less time consuming way of dealing with this would be to buy a new heatsink that doesn't require the use of the hooks on the mounting bracket that came with my board.

Any suggestions?

EDIT:
I'm considering this:

Thanks for the replies. My only problem is that according to this link the SI-128 will not work with my motherboard. Has anybody heard of cases where it did?

The 120 Ultra may not be the ultimate best but is still a very high end HS. It's rather tall so check compatability and overall height.
They are Out of Stock ATM... link is for referance only.
http://www.xoxide.com/thermalright-u...pu-cooler.html
Darn, it's also out of stock at the Egg and SVC, might need to do some hunting.
BTW, you will find it's listed for 939s but had been shipping with AM2 mounting hardware. Check at thermalright.com they specify that fact.

As said, the BT VX and if you can find it, the Tuniq are great units.

The new version of the Big Typhoon (the VX) is now available at xoxide:

http://www.xoxide.com/thermaltake-big-typhoon-vx.html

Check out the specs. It boasts a new mount and better fan (now variable and more CFM).
Hefty pricetag tho.

Some performance results with new BT:

Thanks for the new replies.

Just to make sure I am clear. It wasn't the clip on the cooler that broke. It was the mounting bracket on the motherboard. So whichever cooler I get will needs to come with it's own mounting bracket. It's okay if this needs to be purchased seperatly.

While not my board, this picture shows the part that literally snapped off:
http://lp.pcmoddingmy.com/albums/use...TT/BTVX/20.jpg

It would be the plastic hook part that the metal bracket of the heatsink clasps.
