when i used 3 x 4GB dimms that both MaxxMEM and CPU-Z report dual channel but in affect could a mix of dual and single channel or just single channel which i have think would be asymmetric mode or maybe flex mode as in one channel i would 8GB and the other is 4GB so the density is not matched. if i understand correctly.
as i read more into this you actually will have dual channel as long as your RAM is interleaved and you use 2 x 2GB in the same channel and the 4GB in the other channel. this becuase your RAM is the same density I.E channel A has 4GB and channel b has 4GB

more research needed on my behalf lol

...good info stubass ...is to take into account ...regards !

Why don't you try lowering your timings, let's say 8-8-8-20?

No worries, so long as you have 4 GB+ you're fine. Really, 8 is all you need unless if you're running a huge minecraft server.
