Buying a card for my Girlfriend. Which is better? - Page 2

I listed all those (available to me) that were in the price range... I don't live in USA. The shop I chose was the cheapest in the area.

The obvious choice is to get a 2gb version regardless of performance benefits, because a 2gb GTS450 is still better than a 1gb GT440. The sapphire 2gb 6570 is still better than gigabyte 1gb 6570 (I think), depends on what is overclocked....

I would try to get a GTX460 if possible, however more vram doesn't necessarily mean a better card. Like in theory the HD6570 2GB may be better than the HD6570 1GB, however it wont have the processing power to really utilize the 2GB, you wont be maxing out any games that requires actually 2GB of vram, And by that I mean for example a game like BF3, regardless of the vram when using a HD6570 you wont be playing that game in the High or Ultra settings that actually use more than 1GB vram, you may be able to play it in low - medium settings. Thus requiring less than 1Gb of vram . So its more or less pointless for a card like the HD6570 to have that much vram. Now if it was a card like the GTX560 or GTX460 that would be understandable since they can pull it off and the only problem is their 1GB vrams.

And a 1GB GTS450 would probably be 80% - 100% faster than a 2GB HD6570. thumb.gif
