Do you think I paid too much for this laptop?

Thread Starter
I recently got an Acer 3830T and have been contemplating if I over payed for it. Now the laptop is reasonably powerful (60 fps in SC2 custom games on low) from looking around I still feel that paying $600 for it maybe was not worth it. What do you guys think? Should I return it and get a different laptop?

The specs.

It seems all right but what exactly is this laptop for? You could probably get yourself a better system if gaming was a priority. Intel HD 3000 graphics aren't so great for games.

School and for entertainment on the go (that includes light gaming). The rig in my sig is for gaming.

I see. Seems pretty good to me, although I'm not up on prices. Others seem to think it's good.

Considering you already have a rig for gaming, I'd say yes. Price and what you got seems fair, maybe skimped on the ram?
Question is, are you happy with the purchase? tongue.gif

Any laptop with the i5-2430M Processor 2.40GHz I saw right before Christmas even at 13.3 in in size was $700-$1000. Some of the i3 laptops were $400 - $600.
I looked at 100 laptop for my son.
I would have to say that price is right for that laptop. Keep it!

I still think you should have gotten the one with the 540m. I know it was refurbed though. For $600 you definitely can find a laptop with dedicated gpu.

I don't like the laptop as much, particularly for gaming. If you need the laptop now I would go with:

http://www.amazon.com/U31SD-AH51-13-3-Inch-Light-Laptop-Black/dp/B005UUS5PC
or
http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-u31sddh31-p-3347.html?wconfigure=yes

If you don't need it soon, then I would pre-order: http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-u31sgds31-preorder-p-3552.html

I have been a fan of ASUS for their 1 year accidental 2 year global warranty. The above laptops a dedicated GPU for gaming, and intergrated Intel graphics (optimus) for web browsing allowing up to 8 hours battery life while web browsing). I believe it is 2-3 hours for intense gaming though.

They are closer to teh $700 cost, but that $100 extra should allow you to play SC2 and other games at med-high settings.

*edit - added information below*

The 540M metioned earlier would be in 14" + models like: http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-u46svdh51-p-3349.html
However, you are looking at $850-$900 budget for them.
