is the asus rampage iv really the best mobo for the 3930k. i have heard many good things but at the same time i have heard many horror stories. I am yet again not so concerned about the cost as i am about its ability to overclock. I want the mobo with the best overclocking and stability for the 3930k. Also with the corsair h100 i hope to hit 4.7ghz with keeping voltage in the low low 1.4ish range. The case i will be using will have very good airflow. I also plan to throw some air over the vmr s. I don't want another cheap mid range mobo. I did that with the amd build i have now and the stupid thing won't even hit 3.9ghz do to terrible vdrop.

Might wanna look into the msi big bang xpower II. It's bigger, but all black, much more power phases, and an ungodly awesome bios.

well i have a fan that plugs into the standard power pins on a mobo. It has a flexible metal rod that has clamps on one and and a small 60mm fan on the other, that u can mount on the case or some other solid piece near the vrm s. it doesn't move alot of air but it helped alot with my asus evo. The only thing about it is it pushes the heat off the vrm s but u need to make sure ur case is pulling that air out threw and exuast near by. It was something i purchased from best buy. Actually the only useful pc component i ever purchased there. It is mad by corsiar and only cost me a whopping 10$. Why did u need something to help u with the vrm s on the asus rampage iv.

i recently built a vid encoding gaming pc with a 3930k in it and a single gtx 580, it does everything i ask of it, and if your GC or CPU get maxed almost every game has a mod to dump from one to the other so the 3930 will serve well for a long time unlike the quad core processors, because as time progresses games will use more and more cores to do what they do

He's entirely correct, the SB-E have no better FPS in video games especially at high defs since it's mainly weighed on the GPU(s). The 2500k is the best option for strictly gaming, plus better OC'ing headroom, and that point the 2500k might have a bit (tiny one) better FPSs than a 2600k or a 3930K (even OC'd). I went with the 2600K because I do a lot more than just game and some applications I use utilizes the HT and SB-E was not released at that time.

i dont understand how the 2500k could be faster in games than a 2600k. Forget the fact it has hyperthreading(which im sure means crap in games) and runs at a higher clock by default, but it also has more cache....

It just doesnt make sense to me. The only way would be if it was clocked higher when you OC but clock for clock they should still not be the same peformance just due to cache alone.

Maybe im ignorant to some benches people have done but logically it doesnt add up.

I dont mean to be a dick or anything ive just heard people make that statement so many times and i just really want to know where that comes from?

p.s. sorry for going off topic

He was saying the 2500(k) would be faster purely due to the fact of no hyperthreading. If it is disabled then the 2600(k) will be faster.

i didnt realize hyper threading made it slower... hmm interesting...

All benches ive seen support the opposite so i was a little confused.

It really is sposed to, just in certain test in certain games, the hyperthreading hurts. But, most of the time it doesn't.
