7970 CFX Eyefinity temps

Thread Starter
I am currently running 2 7970s with a slot between the 2 with the fan at auto in eyefinity and my idle temps are creeping up into the high 50s. Does anyone else run a similiar setup with the same problem? I unplugged 2 monitors and it runs a single monitor at 37. Is this just what I have to deal with and go to water?

I'm about to run 2 as well, do you have them overclocked?

What's the airflow in the case like?

I have a 690II advanced with a top 120mm fan blowing in, a back 120 blowing out, and a front 120 blowing in. Like I said, with one monitor, it was idling around 37, but with 3, it was 58 or so. I was hoping these ran cooler so I could consider leaving them on air

The cards idle at higher clocks in order to run multiple monitors. Was the same for the 6xxx series

Temps at load should be the exact same

But that high?
Yeah. 3 sets of clockspeeds - idle, medium (flash movies, video playback), and high (gaming etc). I believe eyefinity uses the middle clock setting. If I watch a youtube video my cards sit in the high 50s

I think I am definately going back to water then. Now if I could only find a case I liked not named the 800D.

Side fan? Get a tasty Noiseblocker PK3 for the side, that'll bring those temps down...

edit - and watercool the 690 II !!! Great little case smile.gif Got a 280 radiator in the roof and a 120 in the back smile.gif

Thats an option. Everything just feels a bit tight with 2 cards. It would be a lot easier in this case with just one. I have an 800D, but I am sort of tired of it. I'd love an 800D that was about 1/3 of the size, with room for a 360 in the top.
