Getting BF3, What Should I Expect? And Tips and Tricks? - Page 3

@adgame some of that advice was bad. Support is not a noob class, and spraying with any of their 100-200 bullet magazine weapons will result in next to nothing for kills beyond about 20 yards. they spread like no other. Support is a very important class, as your team needs ammo to sustain a push or defense, C4 to set traps or take out vehicles, and mortar fire for choke points. For the record, best gun in Support class is the M27 IAR. Thing is beastly.

I also find Rush to be far more difficult than Conquest, as the map is all about choke points, so the enemy knows where you are coming from and you get mowed down unless you've got yourself handy with the map/weapon feel/flow of the game. Conquest there are many vantage points to each bomb site, and if you stick with a decent player on your team, you'll quickly learn your way. It's not insanely difficult. If you see a RED diamond shaped symbol with a letter in it, that's a capture point the enemy has. Your goal, if you choose to accept it, is to capture the point. The closer you get, the smaller the number under it gets (distance). Not very difficult tongue.gif

Thanks! It's as fun as it looks, and the concentration makes me work up a sweat, but i love it.

I just use what's in my sig; K800 keyboard, MX Air mouse, not the ideal gaming hardware. But it works.

Sadly as both are wireless, they tend to just stop responding randomly for a few seconds - the mouse especially. When mid flight, that's often the difference between flying and the respawn screen. Because i get so into what i'm doing, it's hard not to get frustrated.

This and lag is my biggest enemy, and good old simple human error tongue.gif

As for their config, I'm pretty sure i run entirely on default settings - right down to inverted mouse.

Tip 1 - Dont get frustrated when you get completely owned the first bunch of times you play!

The game is hard on newbies and too many quit in frustration and don't pick it up again. It gets much more fun as you gain experience.
From what i remember when i first started, flying was the most frustrating as i'd frequently be shot down by stingers. And as i lacked any countermeasures, i was kinda screwed. Back then i didn't have the agility in flight as i do now.
I posted a video that details a few things that go through my mind as i fly, you can find it here:

How the blazes do you fly forward so fast or moving sideways without turning? And another thing, how do you slow down yourself so quickly?

It's all a balancing act. A combination of yaw, roll and throttle torque - primarily throttle.

If i need to stop suddenly or turn as sharp as i can, i cut throttle (s) as i pitch up to prevent me losing too much altitude (momentum see's to that) this gives me extra maneuverability for a brief moment. It's drag/movement speed that makes the choppers seem sluggish. (Also, blaming "the wind" is my frequent excuse for misjudgements. Flew into a building? - the wind tongue.gif) So cutting it down dramatically will increase agility for a period.

This is also why it's surprisingly easy to nosedive into the dirt when you pull the first manoeuvre like i did at the start of the video (falling from a high altitude) - you gain so much airspeed you can't pitch up. Bam. Quite a kick though if you pull it off.

It all happens pretty sudden. Comes with experience.

The only thing I can really suggest is PTFO. That is Play The F- Objective. That's how you level. Capture flags. Attack MCOM's, Guard flags, Guard MCOMs. I also recommend working with your team and squad. Always join a squad, you get bonus points for giving them ammo, giving them health, reviving them, etc. Drop health and ammo near your team/squad constantly. Once you get some points in the Assault class, you unlock the defibrillator and then you can start reviving teammates. Reviving a teammate not only saves your team a respawn ticket, but gets you 100-110 points, the same amount as a kill. This is actually a great way to earn some points, level up a bit, help your team, and learn the maps in the process because you'll be staying back behind your guys a little bit and learning the map as you guys push up.
Also, make some friends and play with them, stick together, and play smart. Other than that, it's really just learning the maps. Once you learn your vantage points, the game gets a lot easier.
Oh, one last one... PRO TIP: This isn't Modern Warfare. Don't go rushing in all bull in a china shop style. Watch your angles, move up strategically, let the enemies walk into your crosshairs instead of vice versa.

some of the best tips i have read yet. wink.gif

you should expect to get PWND hardd a lot. so many vet players that have crazy good skillz.

also dont rage quit. play the objectives. revive dead teamates and supply ammo if ur those classes. dont play recon unless ur a great sniper. also if u do spot enemys like its going out of style and use the soflam once u unlock it.

most importantly....have fun. origin isnt bad at all...i have had no problems with it since i updated punkbuster manually.

true that.

I like doing that on Damvand Peak. I'll take the venom down and fly it like it's crashing then pull up, nah it was crashing lol.

I've lost so many helis in the water due to trying to dip down so fast lachen.gif
