Definitely not a redrand. On the XS thread they note it is built with a Z bearing which is a modified sleeve bearing similar to more convetional fans which according to their work is better at slow speed than double ball bearing fans.

In my own testing experience..I have noticed that too where the GTs do make a little bearing noise at slower speeds.

I feel pretty optimistic. There are a number of other fans with really quiet motors and bearings out there besides the GTs, so if these have a similar silent motor and bearing with simal GT style forward sweeping dense blades...could have another winner maybe even better.

I have always wondered what caused the harmonics issues we get with the GTs on some samples...maybe it is the ball bearings and a sleeve type bearing would avoid that.

I am just glad to see some competition and I REALLY hope they develop a 140mm variant next. They did say the start of a line of products..smile.gif

Same injection moulding marks, same blades (can't see if the notches are there), same hub size.

Given Swiftech's penchant for re branding things with slight improvements I would say that this is a Nidec Servo GT-AP 15 equivalent (or new model?) with the blades painted white and a small cover over the top of the hub (or a slight re-design).

I hope that they have their supply line sorted out so that they are more available than Scythe's re-brand. I do like the white blades compared to the grey ones, I wonder if there are any other invisible changes, like in the motor for example.

Fancy getting the old test rig out again Martin? I'd be willing to donate the fan when they become available (got my Paypal working this time).

Edit:

Looking again it seems that there are some differences; the notch for the wire is in a slightly different place, the indents in the housing are slightly different, the hub size does look slightly smaller and the corners are rounded and open (yey), not chamfered and closed.

Either a different design by Nidec Servo or a very close copy.

Thanks for the offer, but I am interested enough to buy some myself. I may even buy these for my new radiator test bench..smile.gif

Hope they come out soon.

the helix doesnt look as sturdy as the GT, but that might also be because of the bad image quality. I wont trade my GT's for anything though smile.gif

The fans however is the least interesting thing in that PDF-file biggrin.gif

What kind of static pressure does this bad boy have compared to a AP-15?

I had one of my GT's have that same harmonic issue you speak of, boy is it annoying! I have since dissected it when what I should have done was lubricated the bearings to see if it was in fact the bearings causing the harmonics issues. I agree with others we do need some more 140mm fans, I wish, hope we have some from both companies!
