Computer won't boot up

Thread Starter
Ok here is the story. Recently my brother decided that he wanted a new case for his computer, one with a plastic window. So he bought a new case from newegg. His computer I put it together about 1 to 2 years ago and had been running just fine ever since, but when I moved everything to the new case the computer just didnt boot up anymore. All I did was move all the components to the new case and add a new cpu cooler and the computer just wont boot up anymore. I plug evething in and I see the little red light that indicates that the mother board has power but when I try to turn in on I get no signal out of the video card. I alrady have tried taking it apart and putting it back togheter but no luck, also I have tried two more different video cards that I know work fine but also no luck. I help from you guys with more experice than me. Here are the computer specs.

Athon xp 2400+
Abit va-10 motherboard
ATI Radeo 9550 xl
768 Mb of Ram (256 stick + 512 stick)
CPU Cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835128010
80 Gb hard drive.

I hope someone can help me out.

When u installed the new cpu cooler did u take the small piece of film off of the bottom?

Reset CMOS

Try unplugging the hard drive and starting.

Try using a PCI video card.

Did you use the stand-offs for your motherboard rather than screwing it directly onto the case? If not, you're shorting your motherboard and this is why it's not working. The stand-offs are little bronze circles with holes in for the screws to go through.

Try with nothing other than CPU, PSU, RAM, and video card plugged in - see if it posts. Also, since it's possible that your fried/scratched your mobo, try booting without the RAM, and see if the mobo beeps. If it beeps when you take out the RAM, then your mobo's bad. Also, try different RAM sticks.

All else fails, set up MB on an noncouductiuve surface out sid the cae, ie a Bench Setup, with just minimals, CPU, FHS/pluged in , 1 RAM module the necessary power to MB connections and a vid card. To power it up jump the 2 pins for the case on/off by just touching the 2 pins with the tip of a screwdriver.

Are you getting any beep codes? If not make sure your chas. speaker is plugged in, it should be giving you beep codes that would help narrow down your problem...
