So I won't be loaning to any Palestinians for awhile...

I have one loan out to a Palestinian man whose description of him details that he is a PA employee with "decent salary" and wants to buy furnitiure for his kids. Well that loan is deliquent and i'm not grouping one deliquient loan with the rest of them, but received an email today from kiva on new loans from Palestine.

They all seem to be or be related to someone employed by the PA with "decent salary". Half of them have men in the picture, but the description is clearly for a female. Seems a little fishy to me. rolleyes.gif

hmnm i saw one in there with the name of Ola and it showed a pic of a man, but description it said "Ola is a 24-year-old woman" so hmm.

All loans are given out by 3-party companies which greatly reduces scamming. Use kivalens.org to help filter out lower ranked lenders. You can even filter based on delinquency rate.

It has more to do with culture... I'm not questioning that some of them might be trying to scam, and I would only say to choose carefully. But some might not want to be photographed based on social customs and tradition.

I only loan money to small business owners who've paid back loans before. Sucks there are scammers but it is only to be expected... Fortunately the delinquency rate is low. :D
