[MR] iPad 3 with LTE, Quad-Core Processor and Retina Display Set for March Launch - Page 10

Your edit right there shows your ignorance towards the Android platform. In all of the reviews so far, the Prime is said to be buttery smooth on Honeycomb, a version which isn't even supposed to be optimized for quad-core processors. And afterwards they're singing even more praises when the ICS update came last January 10 via OTA; they say the device has gotten much better overall that it feels like a new tablet. I take it that you don't know that ICS has a lot of optimizations: true multi-core support, forced 2D GPU acceleration, 60 FPS scrolling, improved Dalvik and Java VM, etc.
And why would you not like the HC/ICS layout? It actually feels like Windows especially with the bottom task bar, actual file management and multiple file type support. It works well with the mouse/KB configuration, which the Transformer series is known for.
PS: Maximum Prime battery life is 18 hours with the dock.
Android devices can stream videos via DLNA and WiFi direct. Samsung is going one step further by introducing the Smart TV, which will connect to other Samsung mobile devices for quick transition of TV shows and movies from one screen to another. You can use a Galaxy S phone or tablet as an extension of the television.
And as for the cloud, Google already has implemented it since day one. Once you sign in with your Google account, all your contacts, calendar events, music purchases, apps etc. will be automatically synced to your new Android device. Did you not notice that in the setup?
Why will Tegra 3 flop, when Tegra 2 is on a lot of Android devices this year? Without Tegra 2 there could have been no incentive to transition to dual-core processors, or at least it will be delayed for months. Nvidia's push is what made these other multi-core phones and tablets possible, as well as spurned competition such as Snapdragon and Exynos. And I'm plenty sure Tegra 3 will be successful as seen in the Transformer Prime and other upcoming tablets from others such as Lenovo, Acer, etc. The competition will be even more strict too; we'll be seeing Qualcomm's Krait Snapdragon S4 also in the near future.

Syncing your contacts is not the same as taking a picture on your Iphone and having it show up on your Ipad without you having to do anything. Show me where any Android phone does that without any human intervention on a stock Android OS. As far as streaming video via wifi or DLNA, that's not the same thing as playing a video on your phone/tablet and having it show on your TV like Intel's wireless connectivity does. Again, my response was to people stating they could connect their device to a TV via an HDMI cable and use the TV as a display. DLNA is not the same thing, not even remotely. When you can connect your device to your TV wirelessly and use the TV as the display I will be impressed and see it as useful function. Having a HDMI output for this is not a useful function.

Regardless if the Tegra 3 beats the Ipad 3's internals or not, the Ipad 3 will dominate the field in sales. Apple has a killer image and the marketing know how to push it.

In image alone, no other manufacturer can compete.

The A6 will smoke Tegra 3 in the same fashion the A5 smokes Tegra 2.

At the end of the day though it doesn't really matter unless there are apps to take advantage of the extra power. And that's why Apple has a giant leg up on competition.

it does in gpu department bit there are better games for tegra 2 then a5. it like having a gtx580 and no games to play with or gtx460 and 20 games to play with. i have been using the ipad for 2 month now and never had a app or game give me the saying (oh that a5 it really something) with t2 i have tried a lot of games from nvidia zone and most of them are proper games.

A huge amount of vaporware was shown at CES...95% of that crap will never hit store shelves, but hey, the concept was shown before Apple and that's all that matters. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Apple will eventually support LTE, but when battery consumption is at a significantly reduced level than where Android phones are today. It seems all Android users care about is who did what first. Congrats bashers, your phone has higher download speeds, now enjoy it for the what, 3-4 hours that your battery allows you to. I mean give me a break.

FYI Forumviewer, my Droid X2 runs for two days minimum on a change with the $30 high capacity battery that is in it. The stock battery always had at least 15% left at the end of the day. Best part is that I still have the stock battery and I can swap then any tine I want. So I can toss that original stock battery in a backpack and have 3 days of not neexing to charge my phone. And if for some reason I do need to replace a battery because it went bad I can do so in a matter of secondos for just a few dollars.... instead of $130 at a repair shop.
So don't even go there with the battery issue.

If you're okay with being forced to buy an additional battery pack while carrying around a spare just so you can use LTE, more power to you. I am not. I find that proposal so....1998.

+1 on the X2, I just convinced my coworker to get one and she got it two days ago. I'm not lying when I say it has just as good battery life as her 3GS did.

Mmmmm so the "2012" thing is to have a phone that is practically welded shut where you're forced to spend ~$100+ to change a battery, which I can pay less to change a car battery. NICE.

Based on the Picasa site, it only uploads to your online web albums which is different than uploading to your other devices like IOS cloud does. It really comes down to what you want, something that comes out of the box ready to share and is easy for anyone to use or something that you have to setup and have internet access to use. You have to give it to Apple, it just works. Give your grandma an Ipad or Mac and an Iphone. She can then take a picture with her phone and it automatically uploads to the Mac and/or Ipad without her having to do anything. Android does not do anything like this, simple as that.

As far as the wireless sync goes, so I have to buy a new TV from Samsung and use it with the Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S, again this is not the same as what Intel proposed where you could just use an add on box with any TV.

NICE.

Maybe you've had a bad experience with poor battery life in the past (or present with an LTE phone)....I never have on any phone ive owned in the last twelve years. I've purchased spare batteries in the past, but I've never had a need for them. Or maybe you guys just think you need a spare and are afraid to let go of that mentality (except in the case of LTE phones, of course).

The 2012 thing is to have a device that'll last all day on a single charge. Not be forced to lug around spares because of inefficient internal parts.

To each their own.
