Yea, if they wanted to, they could make it to where once a disk is played, it'll only play in that system, but I doubt they'll go that far. but modding will be extremely difficult. The prices pushed me to a 360 and im glad i got one.

Wow this is getting ridicious, I thought games at 50$ was bad then xbox comes and sets games at 60$, and thats seriously alot of money for 6 hours of entertainment.

Game prices keeps going up!
Length of games keeps going down!

Gaming is doomed if it stays on this track. It seems like in 5 years were gonna be paying 150$ for 3 hours of entertainment.

Yea, that would be horrible. I miss the ps1 rpgs like ff7 that had great story, werent that pricey, and had length to them. I love how, mostly, pc games stay the same price though

I can beat most of the new games 2nd time thorugh in under 4 hours... games like tomb raider and condemned for xbox 360, i can beat them in 3 hours. I paid 60$ for them..

Titan quest was a 40 hour game first time through, and i was very happy. Only 50$ to.

People aren't as interested in games that you have to invest time into. Today is all about multiplayer. CS:S has zero play time for single player and is one of the most popular games of our time. You say $150 for 3 hours of gameplay, but how much play time do you actually get out of modern games? It takes a lot less time to beat FF7 than I have spent on CS:S.

Not to mention that inflation over the past 5 years is more than 10%. $50 doesn't buy what it used to, in the real world as well as the gaming industry

Yea, i remember when morrowind came out, most of everyone quit playing it just because it was so long. That's why oblivion, not sidequests necessarily, was so short. I enjoyed having weeks of play time.

Well, I think the cost of games is acceptable and realistic.

Let's face it, back when, for example, regular Nintendo came out, games were the same price. Since then, the value of currency has decreased and the industry has kept their prices the same for the past 10 years. In other words, these big companies can't just keep prices where they always have been, it simply is not possible, and they've, effectively, had less profits per sale for the past 15+ years (just ignore the amount of games sold in whatever respective era and think about the value of the dollar, yen, or whatever). Granted, better manufacturing and stuff since initial releases and more efficient, perfected systems of development can cut back on costs--but there is always a point where no more can be done save for raising prices. Especially with developing new technology where the development costs have to be gained back from something.

Anyways, I'm glad that Sony is still putting forth new technology and stuff; I think they deserve what they're charging. Still, though, it doesn't make me look at my wallet and magically fill it with money to buy things, which isn't their fault, so I'm not getting it.

It costs $80 but oooooo its Blu-Ray! Even though the game only uses 3GB of the the disks 50GB capacity, its a bazillion times better than if it were on DVD!
