If you're looking for the Eclipse of Web Development, then you're looking for Aptana. You'll love it. (I know I do!)

this is just for your infomation as you like Aptana Studio and its just what you need thumb.gif

Thanks for these links. I looked into Dreamweaver and they have come a long way. I will transition to this when the project moves well along the way and I start creating apps for phones.

If you're looking at new editors, try vim (or gvim). The learning curve's a little steep (when I first tried vim, it wasn't nearly as hard as everyone claimed), but the ease of use later more than makes up for a little learning (just like learning keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop takes time, but the productivity and ease of use more than make up for it).

I will look into Firebug. VIM is great but it's nice to have some support for the languages in terms of coding more efficiently.

For larger projects, it is nice to have the small features that Aptana gives you. Like automatically ending tags, providing a drop down for available properties. Easy to script with it. Organized files properly and many more features. It all adds up.

Yep, you like it because Aptana is built off of Eclipse. It's actually available as an Eclipse plug-in.

I would use Eclipse PHP too, but Aptana has absolutely amazing FTP synch and Git support built-in.

Netbeans. It has some nice features like support for symfony and zend php frameworks which I use at work and for personal projects. It also has a decent php debugger, real time css style preview, and a plugin for html validation(similar to aptana).

On the road, I use notepad++ on my netbook. at home though, I use the built in editor of cuteftp. I like it a lot. Will have to give aptana a try though.

What kind of support do you want?

indenting? VIM has html indenting
syntax highlighting? Vim has syntax highlighting for almost everything.
autocomplete? Have you ever heard of Zencoding? It's just for (extremely) easy HTML coding (and it goes way beyond just autocompleting). There's an extension of this for VIM too (home or via the VIM website) You might also check out the xmledit extension.

Besides this, what else would you want?

Here's a video showing zencoding (not VIM, but it's mostly the same).
