What To Get? - Page 2

i think that you should just throw in a pci for now and save your cash then buy quad sli XFX 7950's this way everyone would be all like i wanna see you benchmark. I payed 1200 American Dollars for quad sli.. I will give you my 7950s when the 8000's come out!

well i have just inherited another £45 (sorry to move the goalposts - but that makes my budget £195, as i have spent some of it) - that makes it £195, i was gonna get a 7900GS, but i then realized i had entered the GT range, and i wondered which one is best (ie if there is any difference at all!)
XFX GeForce 7900GT 256MB DDR3 PCIE Dual DVI - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...11137,43990000

Gainward GeForce 7900GT Bliss Golden Sample GPU Clockspeed 550 MHz 256MB PCIE Dual DVI VO - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...11137,43990000

Inno 3D NVIDIA Geforce 7900GT 256MB TV DVI PCI-E - http://www.savastore.com/productinfo...=0&rstrat=3165

XFX 7900GT 470M 256MB DUAL DVI+VIVO PCI-E - http://www.savastore.com/productinfo...=0&rstrat=3165

XFX 7900GT 520M 256MB DUAL DVI - Extreme Edition PCI-E - http://www.savastore.com/productinfo...=0&rstrat=3165

I assume that the Gainward and XFX "Extreme" are factory overclocked

I Also found a few 7950GT's for sale - which is a little more, but i can afford it (ie about a £5!), are they actually any quicker? will it bottle neck my 4000?

DabsValue NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT 512MB DDR3 PCI-E 2xDVI - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...11137,43990000

Gainward GeForce 7950GT Golden Sample 256MB PCIE Dual DVI - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...11137,43990000

What should i get? im pretty sure that Gainward 7950GT is a GREAT deal, but the DabsValue 7950GT is 512 Mb, although would that make much of a speed difference?

right then - after installing my hyper i have the same old problems with SLi, if i push past 550/1100 on my cards it gets unstable (never used to), so leaving them at that until i order a new one, but which should i get?

550/1100 is a good o/c for a 6600, when you say they never used to get unstable, what do you mean

As for the 7900, can you find someting by eVGA a.k.a eGeforce, they make good cards.

The XFX 7900GS Extreme overclocks like a champ, 200 mhz on the core and 200 on the mem. Or get an Asus 7950GT its the cheapest of the bunch 7950GT's here.

well when i say it never USED to be unstable, it ran with a much higher OC, and ran fine, whereas when i put this new fan in somehow the grahics cards made the pc lock up until i lowered the overclock, but now it won't stay up even with that, so i've disabled SLi until my new Gainward 7950GT arrives
