Hey guys, Im going to be buying a laptop in the next few weeks as I will need it for College and I wanna be able to Surf the web outside

I want it too be fast and have good performance (Will be a Non Gaming laptop as I will use my main rig for that, Just school work and Internet while housing my 1000's Of Mp3s and Movies)

I will be spending no more than £500 And I have been looking at a few.

http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/572_337307.html

How is this one?

Its faster than my main rig.

Does anyone know good websites to get cheap (good) laptops in the UK?

Thanks Alot

It doesn't seem very good :/. I know, I'm just converting to USD without regard for anything else but for that price in dollars ($900?) you'd find 120gb hd and possibly dedicated nvidia/ati graphics. 40gb is no good for tons of mp3's and movies.

Yeah but you have to remember that prices are much higher in the UK for components and systems

I think it's a good laptop for the money, still you should pay atention to that HDD, only 40 Gb nowadays it's kinda small. Anyway, for MP3s you should be fine.

Friday I bought this: HP/Compaq Presario V5009EA Sempron 3000+ 512Mb 40Gb DVD±RW WiFi 15.4"

As you can see from the name it's a Sempron mobile LowVoltage 3000+ @1800MHz, 40Gb HDD, 512Mb DDR, and all of that for 500€, something like 350£... I'm really pleased with it, for web-surfing, movies, MP3 and some aditional presentations it's perfect. The CPU seems very powerful for a laptop, it's being held back by the other components (HDD, RAM) so I don't see the point in getting a dual-core for laptops. BTW, it has around 2H autonomy during which I ran 3Dmark 2001 twice (3200 score), and worked on a power-point presentation while listening to music... Preety good, huh?
