[GamingBolt] Origin is required for all PC editions of Mass Effect 3 - Page 23

1. We do not trust EA so why should we hand them control of access to our games?
2. We do not want to further fragment our game library. A lot of us have pointed out many, many times that we would rather use it without Steam and Origin, but if we have to use a distribution service, we would rather use Steam since most of us already started using it.
I personally have not said that Origin was bad, ever. Now there are some Steam fanboys out there that rage "Herp Derp! No Steam = no buy!" Most of us have a very easy to understand point, "We despise EA as a publisher so we refuse to allow ourselves to be forced to use a distribution software they are trying to force on us." Me personally? I would rather things like Steam never be invented. I don't want to give out my info to companies of any kind to play a game. It is not necessary. That being said, if it IS on Steam, I would get it, because I trust Valve to support me as a gamer FAR FAR MORE than I support EA. EA lost my support ever since they pissed on West Wood dev staff, made them leave, and ruined the franchise. They did the same thing to the NFS franchise as well. This is going to be my last post in this thread.

In the light of that you should't buy any EA games at all Origin exclusive or not.

This is the basis of opposition to Origin. If you do not fully comprehend the very basic rationale that Origin does invade your privacy whereas Steam does not then there is undoubtedly a lack of constructive conversation or debate on the topic.
You and grizzle are arguing everything but the opposition. There is no need to point out hypocrisy of a few when you have clear points being made by those who rationally oppose Origin.

Now that's funny because rational reasons to refuse Origin are absent in this thread.

Oh noes !! you must be wrong !!!! Steam is better !!!!!!!

Some people are just ridiculous , remember we do not live in perfect world.
Sure it would be better to have choice to buy BF3 or ME3 on Steam or without any client at all , hell i would prefer that too , I have almost 60 games on Steam and it's starting with my PC not to mention all friends are on Steam as well.
Just to compare I'm using origin only for BF3 and i start it only for BF3 and i close it after i finish so sure i would prefer to add it to my Steam library , alas i wasn't given that option but I'm not going to deprive myself of great games for that reason and I'm not going to herp derp about Origin while Steam is doing exactly the same thing.
You like the game ? than just freaking buy it and enjoy it.

The first two games only needed a CD key and bam you're off playing, what's keeping them from doing that with the third one?
I will not use Origin period. After the outbreak in Germany about it and testing it myself and seeing what it does in a controlled environment in sandboxie I will not support the questionable crap ware that is Origin.

ME 3 also has multiplayer. Also cry me a river. Steam does the very same thing.

Could it be some people are just anti-EA? Just because they are anti-Origin does not mean they are pro-Steam.

Im in the same situation I have 108 games on steam but just use origin for Bf3 even though I have dead space 2 on it but it doesn't require origin to run, I dont even bother closing origin because it barely takes up anything and would rather have it running than wait the 4 sec or so it takes to load up when launching bf3. I will not deprive myself of great games based on others problems possible fake testimonies.

If you look at the comments alot of them are anti origin because they are pro steam though. If they were anti EA why would they want to buy their games in the first place, even if they weren't on origins?

I'm not brown nosing Valve. If EA had done Origin first, I'd say we should only have that. I only want my games collection in one place.

So Battlefield 3 is ok to play but Mass Effect 3 isn't? I think some people need to get over Origin, sure Steam is good but so is competition.

EA is a PUBLISHER, not to be confused with DEVELOPER. EA does not MAKE games, the PUBLISH games. Origin has nothing to do with the developers; this is purely a business decision by the PUBLISHER EA. The few EA games I have were purchased because I liked them or I liked the developer. However, if I am forced to chose between accepting EA and their unnecessary endeavor and not playing the game, I choose not to play the game. The real losers out of this deal is EA who will lose some potential sales because of this. I won't lose sleep over not playing BF3 or even ME2 until a workaround is discovered. These are video games for crying out loud. Can't play BF3? Big deal, I will just grab Skyrim and pour out over 250 hours of my life into it. Developers still win, because they get paid no matter what. Sure studio owners may take royalty hits on lost sales, but they are typically already paid for their work.

I see the same people defending Origin as we always do. No matter what the issue is or what the evidence is, always a defense of them. It smacks of the same EA-ish employee behavior as the issue with metacritic. And when you argue with these guys, they always act brand new and pretend you didnt already explain the deal to them 20 times through 8 separate threads. Then suddenly the thread gets 404'd. I do not see this as coincidence. Don't let them troll you into any type of response that'll get the thread 404'd so we can stop the spread of bad info. Thanks.
