[GamingBolt] Origin is required for all PC editions of Mass Effect 3 - Page 56

I'm still sticking with Steam because I'd rather keep things simple as much as I can. Plus, I've played BF3 and it's a stupid game. Also, if I wanna play ME3 then I'll rent it for a dollar and play. Sorry, but I already have over 80 games on Steam 50% of which still remain to be played. (Bioshock series, Fallout NV, Skyrim, RAGE, Crysis, Bulletstorm, LA Noire, STALKER, Serious Sam 3, The Witcher series, much more). Also, I hate the fact that you have to pay monthly subscription for ToR. GW2 will make Star Wars suck the balls out of the it. GW2 isn't rushed into publishing it as much as ToR was, and you ToR players have crapload of bugs to fix and large number of patches to come. thumb.gif There's my reason for not wanting to get Origin.

QFT. BF3 is full of hackers, campers, and snipers. It's so slow paced, it sucks. MW3 is a lot better since the gameplay is so fast. I'm not going to spend more money when I already got the games I play, like CS:S, TF2, MW3, and a host of other multiplayer games on Steam. Steam is very simple to use, you think of Steam as a good thing to store all your games-=cloud gaming. Valve could have agreed with EA and ultimately convince EA to sell their games on Steam. Lost opportunities suck.

COD has alot more hackers,Campers and Snipers then that of BF3, COD is a hacker paradise compared to BF3. i never ran into hackers on BF3 not one hacker, i've ran into a few campers but i camped them back in the proccess as a Sniper.

This

Anyone who has played cod on pc knows that there are way more hackers, at least on bf3 you can leave and join a better server with admins. While on cod your stuck with em so much for a steamworks game complete with VAC support.

Valve go away.
See how easily I turned that around? Forcing Steamworks onto my PHYSICAL games IS just as evil as forcing me too use Origin on my physical copy of Battlefield 3. You guys are just blinded that Steam has competition not only from a competing company, but one where they've managed to get their competition on board to give them a cut to publish their games!

Too many sheep think valve's drm is needed for a DD system to work. D2D which is ignored alot of the time usually by people here often have comparable deals to steam with no drm. But no they want that steam drm and thats the saddest part.

When EA bought out Bioware, I figured it was the end of an era. I was right. Bioware was able to push out a couple of games with the same level of polish as they did in the "good old days" (DA1, ME1), then they had to start catering to EA's policies. We see the results in ME2 (nothing more than a recruiting mission since so much was cut to make EA's deadline), and DA2 (again, only a small portion of what the game would have been without EA's crippling launch schedule). On top of that, we have Origin forced down our throats, the "it's all about DLC" mentality, the revenge bans for voicing opinions...the golden age of Bioware RPG's is over. At least we still have Bethesda and Blizzard in our corner, and smaller companies like CDProjekt still remember that games should be about games, not just the bottom line.

I'll probably break down and buy ME3 eventually, but only when I can get it from the bargain bin with all DLC included for <$30. I refuse to pay full retail to EA, and I refuse to be "nickle and dimed" with DLC. I loved Bioware, they were, in my opinion, the greatest RPG studio to ever code for PC. I've been a fan since back when they were Black Isle. It's sad what EA has done to them.

No one acted like this when Skyrim came out, or not that many people. Of course, Valve has a much better reputation than EA.
I do have to agree, EA is pushing their luck. I honestly hope they have a collapse and more companies use 2K, etc. (Wow, I can;t think of any other game publishers I like...)

It all comes down to trust. I dislike and distrust EA. I refuse to let them have my private info. I refuse to use a service that is entirely pushed by them and clearly a move to grab more money. I have purchased the CE version of ME but I will not be installing it until there is a bypass released for Origin.

Um you would be quite wrong.
Valve is steam so why wouldnt they be pormoting there company? it has been that way since half life 2 in the mid 2000's or any other game they make portal / left 4 dead etc.
5 million active users at once plus over 40 million active users and 1500 of game titles , a revenue of 1 billion in 2010 and you call that failure of a platform?.

Steamworks on anyother title is done by publishers/dev choosing to use steamworks. So don't blame valve for publishers/devs choosing what platform they want there game on.
but saying it will only come on one platform like origin forcing me is different.

Wow. That sounds EXACTLY like the business practices of Valve! Steamworks is forcing you to use Steam but you contradict yourself by complaining Origin is one platform but not acknowledging Steam is.
no , from it's iteration steam and valve have been one in the same on it's games , bioware was was purchsed by EA in 2008.

I said steamworks games are which platform dev/publsihers choose unless it's valve who publish there own game on it's own platform since 2003.

Mass Effect on the other hand is everything MS windows to steam to consoles. ME2 I could pick a a physical copy or buy it steam the same with fallout 3 in which both cases I did.

Comparing a company that has been pushing there own platform from the games they make themselves to a comapny buying out developers and only using it's platform and no other medium is different.

but saying it will only come on one platform like origin forcing me is different.

Its more like this: alot of devs CHOOSE to pick steam for their works, because they think it a great way to distribute their games without chocking down on development time. Thats why so many indie gamers go with steam to publish. As for Origin, EA FORCES devs to put it on Origin. EA has pretty much BOUGHT out all the studios and said "Hey you want us to publish your game? Well first we get to buy your company and hold all rights to your shares, and future titles and get to pick what gets released and how it gets released,... and it has to be origin."

Now you might think it sounds hypocritical but listen here. Have you ever heard of Valve telling a dev "Hey you have to release this by this time and must be exclusive to our platform or else we wont publish your game." No they dont they give the publishing rights to the developers and they can release at anytime. Sure some games are restricted to steam, but valve does not have a choke hold. Many games are released without having to be forcefuly placed on steam ie. Witcher 2 (yes i have the physical copy and play without steam), GTA 4 also available on steam but also available outside of steam.

Troll or flame this post all you want but this is what I believe.
