they do that? not trying to be dumb, the wording of the statement has me a little confused

Console is the lead platform on ME3, why people are even giving it any attention on launch day?
Save you money and buy it when it hits $20 or less.

Whether it's on Steam or Origin, people are going to complain about how much of a port ME3 is.

At the end of the day, both Origin and Steam are digital distribution services run by giant mega-corporations who couldn't care less about you. Fundamentally, they are the same thing.

I fell for Dragon Age 2, I'm not going to fall for Mass Effect 3. This news only reinforces that. Besides, did anyone notice the list of PC games slated for 2012? There's plenty of titles to choose from.

EA couldn't care less but Valve actually acts like they genuinely like their customers.
Over the last few years Valve has:
  1. Given me Alien Swarm for free
  2. Given me TONS of maps and support on TF2 for free
  3. Given me new guns on TF2 for free
  4. Given me new maps on L4D and L4D2 for free
  5. Supported the Indies with a a Portal 2 Potato Sack
  6. Eventually given out TF2 for free

Over the last few years, EA has
  1. Porked me over on Dead Space 2. Not fixing the game so it could give me my finger cannon after i won on the nightmare difficulty with only 3 saves. Was going to give a middle finger to the PC community and claim it was unfixable until an anon dev on the steam forums gave out a save file with the Finger Cannon on it. Releasing a game with absolutely atrocious MP support.
  2. Providing almost no support for Crysis 2's MP, allowing it to devolve into a wasteland of aimbotters. Not even providing a 'kick' option until months into the game.
  3. Rushing out DA2 whose environments were 90% copypasta from beginning to end
  4. Under provided with The Sims3 in an effort to maximize the amount of DLC it can provide. IMO this seems to be their MO for MOST of their games at this point. Nothing wrong with DLC mind you, but when you start cutting back on the game so you can sell that DLC, that's when we have issues.

Released on Steam or made by Blizzard. Those are my choices. Origin was a terrible idea, and I won't support it. They are only lowering their sales dramatically by doing this, many people will just pirate the game and/or just not buy it because of Origin only. People are already supporting Steam, and have hundreds (or thousands) of games in it. There's no reason to go elsewhere. Valve will always be much preferred to EA, even if Origin came out first.

I know you have to have an Origin ID, but SWTOR does not require Origin to play (or so I've read). I still agree with you on all points.

Guys,

It said that Mass Effect 3 will be released by other third party retailers in the Bioware post. There's a possibility that Amazon could receive the game and allow it as a download without activating it through the Origin client. Hold on to your long pants.

Here's to hoping. I don't want to touch Origin with a 10-foot pole.

Origin is required for any PC version of Mass Effect 3. Single or multiplay. Physical or digital edition.

Disregard. Crap.

Who publishes retail games for Valve now? My retail copy of HL2 has Sierra on it. My retail copies of Orange Box and L4D just say Valve. Is Valve self published even for retail?
