Go to the settings of whatever you have in the system such as Flash Player, Windows Media Player, IE, FF, Chrome then check if hardware acceleration is enabled. If so, disable it then try again.

I am getting additional monitors however I do not currently own more than one monitor.... I have however checked my GPU usage and it is between 30 and 60% (varying). I have decided that for the sake of an hour I am probably better off reinstalling windows. Shouldn't take me too long as this computer is only really used for computer games.
Will report results when done! Hopefully I will be able to move onto purchasing a waterblock and benchmarking.

I am going to say its your CPU holding you back. Are you running it at stock? You need a decent overclock to make use of that 7970, and if you're on custom water 4.8ghz+ should be no problem. Unigine Heaven uses so little CPU and it depends heavily on the GPU. In fact I have an OSD on my G510 showing my CPU frequency, my CPU actually goes into 1600mhz quite frequently in Heaven with no drop in frames. BF3 on the other hand absolutely needs the CPU horsepower.

I would agree however my CPU is not being maxed out and I was getting much much much much better performance when running my 6950.....
I just can't wait! My computer is going to work perfectly once I reinstall windows! rolleyes.gif
I am in the progress of backing up my steam games, once that is finish we will be away!

No way is a 2500k holding any GPU back lol.

A fresh install of Windows will fix it

At stock a 2500k could most certainly hold a GPU back, which is what he was asking.

Agree, even if it was he should be getting at least the same performance as his previous card I would think. But still that chip is guaranteed to do 4ghz at stock volts may as well bump it up and see if it helps your issue to eliminate this as a potential culprit

In games like SC2 and Skyrim yeah probably. In BF3 no chance in hell.

Agreed 100%, I know perfectly well that my CPU is not bottlenecking.

Straight out, I think your wrong here.

My thoughts exactly, my i5-2500K isn't at stock anyway, it is clocked at 4.5Ghz and cooled with a custom water loop.

My thoughts precisely.

Now just to install BF3, I just finished eating my tasty scrambled egg and I am ready to rock and roll (with windows already reinstalled).

One final word to those who think it is still possible that my CPU is bottlenecking. My CPU usage while in Battlefield 3 is about 30% and on a 4.5Ghz i5-2500K this is perfectly reasonable!!

Windows 7 reinstall with fresh new drivers.

cpu at stock and 7970 only at 70% load. argue all you want but that's a cpu bottleneck. trust me math doesn't make sense with BF3. a phenom II x4 @4ghz struggled with a 6870CF(low gpu usage max cpu usage) on my friend and was fully loaded BUT a phenom iI 1055T at stock was able to play it without problems and with LOW cpu load and max gpu loads. just overclock the cpu and see if the problem is fixed.
