Carbide 500R Build

Here is a nice stock picture from Corsair. I didn't get round to taking one myself as the case was already in bits seconds after pulling it out of the box biggrin.gif

stock.png

Pulling it apart...

case.jpg

bits.jpg

And the tubing I will be using. Standard tubing sleeved with steel braid with compressions to finish it off smile.gif

tubing.jpg

tubing2.jpg

Means I can use a nice tight bend radius without kinking and looks great too. This tubing is 7/16" ID by 1/2" OD.

tube%20in.jpg

Box full of braid from the scrap bin next-door to where my Dad works (thanks Dad).

braid.jpg

Stuff that will be going inside.

stuff.jpg

Corsair HX750 PSU
Thermochill PA 120.2
2x Scythe Kaze 1900RPM for the rad
D-tek DB1 pump
Intel X25-M 160GB

Where I would like to place the radiator.

rad1.jpg

Top needs to be raised ~40mm.

rad2.jpg

The cheap fan controller included in the case front panel uses an LM317 adjustable linear regulator and a 3-way switch. Inefficient design, but it works fine and is actually better than I was expecting.

fan%20controller.jpg

Here is what I plan for a reservoir in the side-panel. I will be making this out of acrylic or some similar material.

Another plan for different radiator placement.

rad%20front.jpg

And some more goodies. Compression fittings, fill-port and temp sensor.

fittings.jpg

Fill-port fitted.

fillport.jpg

I have decided to change the placement of the radiator again tongue.gif The final placement will be in the front of the case at the top where the 5.25" bays were. Today I made some brackets to fix the radiator + fans.

brackets%20done.jpg

More pics of that to come in the near future smile.gif

Brackets painted and rad mounted.

mounted.jpg

I also made a bracket for the pump and attached it to the HDD cage.

pump.jpg

The pump is padded with neoprene to reduce vibrations.

It's a great case. Very solid. I was a little bothered about the sidepanel where I would be putting the reservoir as it will have to hold about 2.5GK in weight, but the panel is really solid and not flexible at all thanks to the large indentation and the rolled edges.

It's similar in quality to my Antec 900, if not better.
