If your system specs are a new build, that is you have yet to purchase those items, then you should look at a C2D Intel build and compare value... the C2D's are simply faster.

Thanks! Yea, Ive been considering get conroe. Only thing at this point holding me back is the mobos out. I kinda like crossfire, so waiting for a board that has it. If I did go conroe though, which cpu would you suggest? I dont want to get the entry E6300, but I dont really have a lot of money... any suggestions?

Look at the 975chipset MBs for Crossfire, as for CPU the 6400 is prob. a better option than the 6300 due to the extra multi or if budget can stretch then look at a 6600....

But do a lot more reading and searching to make your own informed choice.

Yea, go for C2D. A E6400 will be very nice. At stock its about as fast as the X2 5000+, and overclocks a lot more, upto 3.2GHz on air. As long as you got a good OCing mobo. Most of the good mobo's do support CrossFire anyway, ASUS P5W-DH, P5B Deluxe etc...

Of course C2D is a very good alternative if you can aford it. For the mobo I have a sugestion: DFI Infinity Ultra M2. Specs:
- AM2 soket
- nForce 4 ULTRA chipset
- official support for DDR2 800, works with DDR2 1100
- under 100$
- unofficial SLI support (not crossfire I know)
......

Bottom line: It OCs to around 400-440HTT which is more than enough to push any CPU to its limits.

*EDIT K9A review:
http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==

It seems a decent board with some OCing abilities, but it seems there are some problems with the early BIOS revisions of the mobo.
