I drive a 92 miata with no power steering (purposely removed), no AC (also purposely removed), no power windows (comes stock), no abs or traction control (thankgod), and with a 6 puck ACT race clutch. If I don't complain about stop and go traffic nobody should.

MX-5's for the win. biggrin.gif Nice 6UL's by the way.

Except mine is turbo'd, and still has all the power accessories, which I like because I'm lazy and like to be comfortable when driving. I rather like having ABS (saves me money on tires), but TC and AT is for the birds. I'd probably want an auto if I had to drive in stop 'n go traffic every day though.

What sucks is, all of the new cars come with traction control because of government mandates. And most of them don't let you turn it off permanently - it has to be done each time you start the car. frown.gif It probably wouldn't be a big deal once I got in the habit of turning it off every time, but I'm sure I'd have moments where I forget to turn it off, try to kick the tail out a bit on a corner, and then okayguy.jpg happens.

Woah woah woah. Miata's have Torsen T-1 rear ends, yes? that's mechanical traction control bub (it's not power limiting, but it's still controlling traction).

Not that I can talk, I threw in a BMW Z3 (torsen T-2) rear end into the back of my e30...

And yes, I called you "bub".

No, just no. No one calls an LSD traction control.

EDIT: Also, just looking at his car, I do not believe it was one of the editions that came with a Torsen. There were only a handful of special editions that had a Torsen. The M-editions, for one (which his is not an M), and there may have been others. I know it didn't come on the base models though.

It's a base model 92 (lightest model) with a 2000 1.8 swap (highest output), 94 5 speed, with a Torsen T1 from an uknown year.

Nice upgrades. smile.gif

My bad on the wheels - guess I'm not familiar with them as I thought!

I still kill you with power/weight, but mine's a good deal heavier. Bet it's fun to have one only 2100 lbs!

I haven't seen one without it either. I think the Traction Control can be good...my 2005 Jeep Cherokee had it and my 2010 Dodge Caravan has it as well. It is really important to turn it off on the van though. If you get into bad roads and don't turn off the traction control you will be having a horrible time. It is good for icy roads...but snow covered roads will make it get stuck easily.

Well, this thread has been successfully derailed. thumb.gif

Its almost as bad as cars with automatic gears, go manual or go home.

This I can agree with, the more gadgets and nannies auto manufacturers shove into cars makes the drivers much less alert and they have a false sense of security, and eventually their driving skills will decline.
I've grown to dislike automatics, I catch myself losing focus time to time and I don't like the feeling of not having full control.

This would be amazing for the commute around the Baltimore/DC Metro area, rush hour around here can take you several hours to get anywhere, it's really insane.
