FX-4100 temp can't be right.

Hey folks. I am using Core Temp, and CPUID Hardware Monitor to keep track of my system temps. I am confident that its reading my GFX cards temps just fine, however the temps on my CPU seem awfully low for a stock cooler (though I do have decent case ventilation).

After playing BF3 for about 2 hours, Hardware Monitor is saying my CPU never went above 37c. Is my cooling that good or is something up? Seems pretty crucial to figure this out as I want to make sure my CPU is not overheating. Stock clock btw, no OC.

why complain, low temps = good stuff. though to be sure, is your graphics card a bottleneck?

Well you can see my system in my sig. I run BF3 on ultra settings with 60fps or so. I am not complaining about low temps at all. I just didnt think a stock cooler could keep this CPU that low, and thus thought maybe I was getting an inaccurate reading.

Nope. the stock coolers for the AMD line have always been pretty good. The Phenom II stock HSF actually had heatpiples with a fully copper base. The FX line is about the same.

it could be, though it is a fairly capable stock cooler. ive seen aftermarket coolers do worse on bulldozer.

Good to know folks. Thanks for the reassurance. I don't think this stock cooler has heat pipes but I suppose it's not needing them smile.gif
