I'm not mistaking anything you're saying. smile.gif

They just don't compete, simple as that.

Per the bold/underline, yes you can. Wouldn't that'd be like saying some car dealerships aren't in any competition because they don't offer the same exact vehicles, or that any sort of different stores aren't in competition for offering different things (think specialized stores compared to Walmart; perfect example), or that restaurants might not be in competition for offering different food or whatnot? There's varying degrees of competition; indirect competition. The numerous options don't have to be the same to a certain extent for it to constitute some competition.

Besides, if you want to argue that anyway, there's some of EA's games on Steam, and some of Valve's games on Origin. There's third party games on both. It's small right now, yes, but to say there's no competition between the two at all?

Besides, those exclusives are things that set them apart. It's how Steam grabbed a big part of the pie to begin with; by forcing it's games to be exclusive to it's then-new platform. Ask Direct-2-Drive and the others though how they feel on if that didn't constitute towards giving them competition from Steam. We all know it did because it was part of the foundation of Steam.

Let's agree to disagree. It seems it's more that we have different opinions on what constitutes what here.

I flat out REFUSE to install Origin on my machine. If that leaves me out of a few "hit" titles, so be it. I could care less. I've got over 200 games on Steam that I can enjoy, and well over a thousand more I could buy. I'm not going to shed tears over 2 or 3 games because EA wants to force Origin down my throat.

And yes, I HATE Origin, and it will NEVER see space on my hard drives. I don't mind there being competition, but I don't trust EA at all for this. Even if there is competition, I'll buy where I've already got most of my library at...and that's Steam. I won't run multiple game clients just for a few games. If its not on Steam (at this point), then its not worth getting to me.

Doesnt Origin require you to be online to use or have they added an offline mode like Steam? I've been to a few LAN parties with my friends where internet was not available so having to use something that must have an internet connection before I can play my games means that I will never like it over Steam.

Steam because I love Valve and hate EA. Even use the voice chat when playing 2v2 SC and anything with friends. Don't know if Origin has the chat though.
