100% load or prime95?

Thread Starter
So i've got my e6600 humming along at 3.0ghz right now. When I go into TAT and tell it to ramp both cores up to 100%, i get ~58-59 degrees C. However, when I run prime95 (one instance on each core, of course) for hours on end, I get up to 48 degrees C.

Which temp should i care about? Will both cores ever get up to 100% load? I'd think that two instances of prime95 would simulate what it would be like for both cores to be really working... so I'd think I'd pay attention to that number..

thoughts?

Prime95 runs a variety of tests, many of which are very RAM intensive or test a mixture of RAM and CPU. On those particular tests, the CPU temps will be pretty low. Be sure to run the heavy CPU tests when comparing temps to other full load temps.

Try ORTHOS. It uses the same calculations as Prime95 does (with a couple of
extra options to use if you want) and it's a lot easier to use than dual Prime95.

are you running 2 instances of prime 95? if you only use one, it will only load up the core to 50-60% just check in task manager and you'll see

No, I *was* running StressPrime (two instances) then switched to Orthos (which runs two instances automatically it seems).

A'men Brother! LOL

ORTHOS is better than Dual Prime95, much better. One of the features I like most about it, is that you can turn off your monitor when its running and if one or two of the Lucas-Lehmer iterations it runs fails, it'll will flash the Scroll Lock keyboard light, so you know! Very good idea imo .

sp2004 does that too...but it also makes the mobo beep, so I guess it's basically useless lol
