ok so ive got dual monitors.... and problems

Thread Starter
So, i just recently picked up a Veiwsonic VA912b from a local Fry's Electronics. I wanted to run Dual monitors with my Nec Multisync FE770.

So i got it up and running for a good day. Then the next day, im bombarded with "Cannot install new hardware" for "Default Monitor".

And eventually it starts saying that it can't find the drivers for my VA912b or my FE770

Anyone know how to fix this?

Did u try uninstalling ur old monitor (if u had one) also download the latest drivers, and test the monitor individually to see if one of them is a dud or not.

uninstall the old drivers, install the new drivers, restart, tell windows where the drivers were installed to. then it should find them and use them.. although it may make u restart again to initiate the drivers.

if u have a CRT then not really

but most LCDs need the drivers to get full use out of it..

anyway my old CRT driver would tell my video card to hide ress and refresh rates that it couldnt display

I havent installed drivers for monitors in like... ever. Seriously, the oldest computer that I used was a 20 year old IBM 486 thing and it didnt need drivers to run the monitor.

drivers are used today so the computer knows what the monitor can do.. most people here dont download the specific driver.. i dunno cus they lazy... but windows does install a generic driver that allows u to decide what res u want but it also shows res that most monitors cant display but the video card can do it so it displays it
