Was about 3 minutes long on TPF to complete a 6904 with my 960 at 4.3GHz and RAM at 1800...so maybe with faster RAM and a higher OC....had put this out of my head with the changes coming, now you got me looking at memory again rolleyes.gif

I am sticking with simply upgrading my -smp hardware.I picked up a i7-970 but it is just for -smp.I really only have about 5 more weeks max until it is too hot for more than one machine, that one machine better be a good one.Hey since we are talking "rule changes' any word on gpu2's fate? I see some 90.00 275's (EVGA B stock) and I get my old urge to work with them. They do their thing and put out 8-9k and do it all on air cooling.

You stated it will soon be to warm for more than one computer, then you propose adding video cards. Video cards at full load produce a lot of heat and are rather poor performers as compared to high end CPUs. Why not dispense with the GPU upgrades and target your resources ($) towards a Sandy Bridge E?

MUCH better than a SBE would be a 6128 4p for close to the same price. Plus they only draw ~400-450w so it wont generate too much heat.

Or drop the OC in summer that is what I do. The hotter it gets the more I drop it. But then again Tucsons climate is allot warmer than mine.

Well guys everything may be folding for you but at times I simply need a gpu.

No one ever did comment on the status of gpu2 (I guess flaming was the easier activity).I has been almost a full 2 years since we were told the "end of gpu2 is near".I wonder if the same methodology will apply to the Jan 16th rule changes.

EDIT: Just ordered 2 of them, shipping was 4.99,gotta love that.I have plenty of places to use a few extra gpu's. A 275 was my first piece of folding hardware (I have one running now. but my first folding card is on its way to XFX for double lifetime RMA replacement,I wonder what I get back, better not be a 240)

What clocks, cooling and WU? I only get 20k on the 7620,7621, and 7622 at 900Mhz but it's too hot and loud for me even there.
