No you dont need to by a new driver.

A driver is a piece of software that is the link between Hardware and software so that they can communicate. To get the latest up to date chipset software you will need to go to your motherboard manufacturers website to obtain the latest software.

Yes RAM is a HUGE decider in overal PC performance. 256 is the bare Minimum for running as OS such as XP. You are going to want to upgrade that RAM to see much of a difference.

Doubtfull. As you are running an Operating system that uses alot of physical memory then you will have to upgrade your memory within your system. However if you used a less demanding Operating system such as WIN2000 or WIN 98 that will help. However if you are gaming then either way you will need more memory.

Yes you can get the latest software from your motherboards manufacturers website.

Downloading all of the latest drivers won't cost you anything but time, and time = money to most people, but theoredically your not spending any. If you would like to see a difference in overall computer preformance spend $$ for 1 or 2 gb of some good ram.

Depending on what you do 1GB may be plenty. However before eciding on such a thing you MUST check what type of memory your motherboard uses and how much it can run at anyone time.

Types of RAM in your case : SDRAM, DDR
