A 7970 will be a nice upgrade from a 570gtx and if you wait until the 780gtx the ati hd 7 series will priced in a way to make the gtx series redundant.

I remember going from a 280 to a 570 and it was a drastic difference, this is a tough choice, it seems the last few generations nvidia has been draging thier feet they keep pushing back the release date, Id hate to get the 7970 and see the 780 come out in april and be 25 % faster than the 7970, then Id regret it

A 7970 would do it, but if you feel you need to wait for the new Nvidia ones, you probably should.

Just look at the difference between a 6970 and a 580

I think that it would be an exelent upgrade. If you get a 7970 would you sell me that 570?

I have seen some GTX570s go sale on various forums for $250~ same prices 6950/6970s are going for but they come and go. As for HD7970s it is a significant boost but it really makes a difference when its overclocked. Many people are in that dilemma of either going CFX/SLI or going with the single GPU. They're both have their pros and cons, the only con I would see with going dual cards is things like driver issues or microstutter/latency but aside from that its a cheaper alternative for a good performance difference. Think of it like this, a GTX570 is 1.00, an HD7970 at stock is 1.45, overclocked is 1.80 while a GTX570SLI is 1.95 and there are various games where the HD7970 oc'd does beat out the HD6990 and GTX590 but also note that the 7970 is a single GPU so it doesnt have to deal with dual card driver bugs etc... If you have the money or considering selling the GTX570 and paying the difference the HD7970 is a fine choice. If you want a cheaper alternative getting another GTX570 is also a valid choice. There are people out there who are kind of, not really say fanboy but they prefer one side over the other whether its because of drivers or control panel features etc... If you have no problems with gaming right now and can wait for the new Keplers I would do that as well but depending on the performance difference can also affect the resale value of the card (if you were planning to sell it).

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/01/09/amd_radeon_hd_7970_overclocking_performance_review/5 here is a HardOCP snip of expected performance between the stock, oc'd and GTX580.

+1 !!! This what I will do.

you got a psu to handle SLI 570 so why not?. Grab a used one for ~$250. It will perform better than one 7970. Then when EVERYTHING comes out by summer...then decide what to get. Sell your SLI 570s for like $400-450 and then get the GTX 780. Since you seem to want the GTX 780 and sticking with Nvidia...this what i would do while i m waiting, and still want to play BF3 in ULTRA
