Can anyone assist me in the flashing process?

Is there anyone that can help via TS/MSN or whatever chat thing with flashing my mobile. I did a root, s-off, custom hboot and ROM a while back, but haven't taken much notice of the phone modding scene, so i'm lost.

I want to install a new ROM called Mildwild but it's talking about "Requirement:User from 2.7 wipe dalvik only!"... this means nothing to me. Anyone help a brother out?

Well i can maybe help ya...but only on here as im on a computer without any messengers or anything

Dalvik is dalvik cache in the clockwork mod recovery

can you link the ROM you are trying to install and also the phone type?

flashing roms is a fairly easy process...most of the time it just requires booting into clockwork mod recovery and then clearing out whatever the ROM asks to clear out...Dalvik cache in your instance....then flash from zip file (at least thats how my phone is and a ton of others )

EDIT: so i went a googling and found your ROM...its for the HTC desire....so on the main XDA dev section for your phone is a noob proofing guide...at the bottom of that post is a nice how to video on how to flash roms after you've rooted and s=off

Cool I have a GSM HTC Desire and to this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353861

I plan to use the CM7r2 Alpharev Hboot. As you said, I found the dalvik cache wipe option in the CWM advanced options. So, my step now is to replace my Oxygen Hboot with CM7r2 (apparently Mildwild doesn't fit on Oxygen's.)

I installed the Android SDK... but I cannot find fastboot.exe to navigate to... Any idea where it is or where I get it?

so its been a while since ive actually had to do anything other than flash roms to my phone...its been a year since i changed my bootloader and radio and all that crap on my phone (MT4G)...but just by doing a little googling i came across this site http://alpharev.nl/ and also came across this site as well "changing hboot with no computer" the last link procedure ive actually used before to change my hboot and radio...i tend to only use the SDK when i absolutely have to

but again like you've seen a 100 times...use them at your own risk

formatting and partitioning SD cards is all up to how the phone handles the sd card...so i cant help ya there

like my mytouch doesnt need any partitions as it reads the whole card just fine...but my mother has a samsung vibrant and when i put a custom rom on her phone...her sd card has 2 partitions and needed to be kept that way so the phone could read it

like i said...its all very easy to do as long as you follow instructions and read a lot biggrin.gif

Yeah, it's starting to come back to me now. When people create noob proof videos etc... you don't read around the subject and end up reliant on instructions. That's what's happened to me. I just want to use a custom ROM, i'm not massively into the mod scene.

I will rep+ you when it works biggrin.gif

Heh, tbh I work 7am to 7pm mon-fri, so I don't have much time to be testing new ROMS. I like a stable but quick phone, so i'd rather find a goodun and stick with it.

Talking of sticking, I installed Mildwild... but when I booted out of CWM it's sitting on the Android splashscreen (for about 5 mins now). Not looking hopeful.

well sitting at the loading screen could be anything...if its stuck after 10 or so minutes...pull the battery and then try booting the phone again...if that fails load the nandroid backup and try another rom and see if that one works...if it does try loading up mildwild again...could be a bad download could be its incompatible with the hboot...so many things that could cause a boot to get stuck
