Stuck between a 580 and a hard place! - Page 3

Thread Starter
Okay, time for an update. First of all, thanks to anyone who's helped me thus far.

Forget about the Frys limitation, got my credit back in cash...finally. The Asus 570 DCUII is the card I am going to order from Newegg. I want a non-reference design, with a BEAST cooler.

Looking at Newegg, for the motherboard. I would HAVE to keep it under $115, (before taxes/shipping of course).

Saw this one here:

Update:

What you guys think?

I would stick with the motherboard you have now until you can spend at least $150 on a mobo. I've had crappy mobos in the past and I hated them, you have a mobo that is in your words "so basic" now already so I don't see why you would buy a second bargain bin mobo and make the same mistake again. Get your GPU if you'd like, that should ease some of the upgrade itch and I've had that card before and it's a nice one, but then just endure with your current mobo that you have now for a little while longer until you can afford something that you will be happier with in the long run and not be looking to replace again.

Perhaps it's just that BF3 is poorly optimized?

Well, Recording music isn't so demanding ...

playing with After Effects is really demanding...

I play my guitars, Drum, and keyboard, and i record as well ...

My AMD system was more than enough to handle it (Phenom II X4 C3 + MSI 790FX-GD70)
By the way, that GD70 was (still is) a SUPER overclock machine...ROFL, wow, ... It runs BF3 with 1 GTX480 , better than my intel setup with 2 460SLI (got 580's recently)...

Anyways ... with an I7 2600 setup, the current MB can't possibly really be that bad, It don't matter which motherboard you have, you will have NO problems with ANY sound recording... If you are editing videos HARDCORE with Adobe AE, etc etc (I mean Hardcore) , then you wan't to get a real good MB so you can toast the whole setup as an assembly ....

But sound recording doesn't even tickle your current system ...

GO FOR THE GTX 580 biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif !! you will be happyer ! ...

Then if you want to expand, you get a new MB, and you still have your gtx 580 !!!!, then you can SLI it ! ...

I play BF3 @ Ultra @ aprox 120 ~ 160FPS (gtx 580 SLI(stock Clock Atm)) ... the game isn't even well optimized for sli (Starcraft 2 is Super well optimized)
