$1000 Budget sandybridge build help

Thread Starter
A friend of mine had some problems with a i5 2500 dell. He asked me about a $1000 build

Can you guys suggest a complete build (- kb or mouse) for $1000

AT LEAST a 2500k or 2600k

+rep for 2 complete builds with and one without a monitor meeting the $1000 requirement

I'm not sure if he can reuse the Windows 7 that was on his Dell? I know technically he's supposed to but I believe it can be activated by calling them.

Overclocking is not currently a priority as he doesn't live near me but would like quality components to where he may have the option in the future if he chooses to look into it.

Dood, I don't mean to be a dick but you have over 11 thousand posts and you need our advice? I know its interesting to find what other people would suggest but there are only a few different combinations that would come under $1000 for a sandy bridge build. Good luck.

Well, You definitely can't go wrong with the following:

i5 2500k - $220

ASRock extreme 4 gen 3 or an ASUS board like the P8Z68-V, I prefer to stay far far far away from all other brands of motherboards except for a few from gigabyte. These boards are also overclocking beasts. $180

RAM for the "best" possible would be either these ripjaws or these Snipers based on your aesthetic preference. Sandy bridge's "sweet spot" is 1866, 1600 would be absolutely fine as well I promise you won't notice a difference. Also don't go after anything with a higher cas than 9. - $60

Case - based on aesthetic preference - $100

Monitor - $100
(referb/open box from newegg)

PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010 - $108

GPU - w/ monitor, grab yourself a 2gb 6950 or 560 ti.
w/ out a monitor, grab a 6970 or 570
Check used sales for a 6970 or 6950 since the 7970's are out and they can be had for very cheap right about now!

Basically,

i5-2500K,EVGA GTX670, TX650 v2, 8GB Vengeance Ram, Hyper 212 Evo,HAF912,ASRock Z77 board,500GB HDD. or you can go with a 7850 and a i7-3770K (sounds unbelievable i know, but i've made it:D also i selected 7850 instead of 560Ti since 7850 is a better card.
