Had it with G500, can you recommend me a new mouse?

Thread Starter
So I swapped my old original G9 mouse for a G500 about a year ago but I've finally decided I can't stand it any more. It's heavy and highly arched, leading to frustration.

1. What's your grip style?
Finger tip

2. What's your sensitivity?
1200, I've tried 1600 but it doesn't feel accurate, perhaps I configured it incorrectly?

3. What's your maximum budget?
No budget.

4. Do you want additional buttons?
Yeah, sort've. For any potential future MMOs. Though I could be persuaded otherwise.

5. What games do you play?
SC2, UT3, SWTOR, Dota2.

6. Do you mind about prediction?
The option to turn it off would be nice, but not essential.

7. Other relevant information:
I'm right-handed. I have medium sized hands. Lowish weight. I use a Razer Goliathus Speed mat.

Thanks for any help, guys!

If you're like me and have gigantic hands, this mouse is amazing
I've tried so many others, and none of them even come close to it

To be honest, the Razer Naga is a wonderful mouse. It's 5600 DPI, had 12 additional buttons on the left hand side of the mouse, plus two additional buttons on the left side of the left mouse button. It is also very comfortable and my hand, is a great improvement over the shape of the Imperator, which I had before this. Highly reliable, accurate, and durable. Both of my roommates also have them, and I have been using mine for well over a year now. One of my roommates soaked his, and two days later, works without a hitch after some drying.
I thought the buttons might be a bit distracting for non MMO use, but this simply isn't the case. I find them to be very useful for FPS like BF3; i.e. changing vehicle positions, reloading, using other weapon slots, etc.
To sum it up, A great mouse for about 70 bucks that should accommodate any play style you may have.

Edit: I also use a Razer Goliathus speed mat 36x12, and I have awesome control in FPS.

Seems like a nice mouse as well, but 3200 dpi is a bit weak IMO. Plus, I think the Naga is far better suited for an MMO player. I love using mine for SWTOR. thumb.gif
As far as the size goes, I have pretty big hands, almost annoyingly large, and the naga suits me well biggrin.gif

Lol, damn. eek.gif You win on the hand size my friend. I have pretty big hands, and good grip strength, and I definitely can't palm a basketball, lol.
In response to the last part of the post, I didn't realize there was a higher dpi version. That's a big deal to me, as I hate having a mouse that's under 5000dpi. I still would like the naga better for MMOs, just because of the quick access to many many buttons. But if your hands are as big as Hobybobags, I think the point is moot, lol. biggrin.gif

Isn't the Razor Naga a palm grip mouse? It seems to have a pretty high back to it.

I'm in the same boat as you. My G5 died a few months ago and I've been in the search for a new mouse since. I have very large hands (I'm 6"6' and can palm a basketball also). I used to enjoy the palm grip but noticed I now use more of a claw/fingertip grip while gaming. I mostly play DOTA 2, FPS, Action RPGs and Strat games.

I've tried the following mice with no luck: (thank you BestBuy for your 30 day return policy)

Logitech G700 - Felt odd in my hand. The arch was too high for my claw/fingertip grip.

Razer Deathadder - WAY too long for any claw grip even with my monster size hands. I also hated the large up/out curved buttons!

Steelseries WOW Legendary - The overall shape was good but couldn't stand the extra side buttons, my fingers kept accidently pressing them and they don't work in any games other than WOW. Also the extra buttons around the middle mouse button forced my pointer and middle fingers too far apart. It's construction felt cheaper than any other mouse I've tried, and that's unacceptable at $90.

Logitech G500 - I loved my old G5 but the new G500 is a no go for me (maybe because my style changed to claw/fingertip grip?). I hate the new texture and the side buttons are now smaller and harder to get to with a fingertip grip. The shape feels different from my second gen G5 and my wrist and fingers start to get soar after just 30 minutes of gaming. I'm still using this mouse until my new one arrives from Amazon (see below).

CM Storm Spawn - Just ordered it on Amazon. It's very small so I held out on purchasing it until I exhausted other options. I've heard nothing but good about it for claw and fingertip grip gamers. It should show up tomorrow and I'll update you on my findings.

Other mice I would like to try: (if the CM Storm Spawn doesn't work out)

Logitech G9x - Hear it's great for those claw and finger gamers. Can swap out the case for large or small size. Weights you can add/remove to your liking.

R.A.T 7 and 9 - Expensive but can modify almost everything about it (shape, size ... if only women were this versatile!). But I've heard negative things about it's laser tracking and durability.

Steelseries Xai or Sensie: Not sure how it'll do with fingertip or grip gamers but I've heard great things about it. It's also expensive and I've heard people can get annoyed with the side buttons being on both sides seeing as how it's an ambidextrous mouse.

Those are my findings so far. Hope it helps you in some way.
