Corsair H60 fan set-up

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I couldn't help but notice that i might be doing my fan set-up improperly and wanted a second opinion. This is how it currently is.

i have the Front fan pulling air in, top one is pushing air out, and the side on is pulling air in.

And both fans on the H60 are pulling air in from the outside.

What makes you say it's wrong? Do you have high temps? It's suggested to run the Corsair h series coolers in an intake configuration, which you are. Could you tell us your load temps, and ambient temps? I assume your running the h60 in your sig rig?

I have an H60 on the way right now for my Main rig. I will be setting mine up as Intake in a Push/Pull configuration. But first I need to get a few things. But the recommended method is as Intake. I have the same case as you and I will be going to Danger Den and picking up a Bay Rad Bracket set. This will allow me to put my H60 Rad into the front 5.25" bays as Intake. Then I can exhaust out the top rear and the top of the case while bringing in cool air from the bottom and bottom front.

You can try that configuration and other ways and see how all the temperature compare after maybe an hour. You gotta do longer for stability test. I think those are good temperatures.

i have the same setup as you only i have my h60 as an exaust.
you will most likely see better temps as an intake, however, if your cpu is under a decent load alot of the time (folding, etc.)
keep in mind the h60 rad will get saturated with heat over time and will begin to blow hot air into your chassis. just like a blow dryer.
IMO i dont like the idea of blowing hot air into my case period. any air that is taken in should be cool air.
setting your h60 up as an exhaust may not even net you any higher temps at all.
it depends on if there are other things in your case that are under load and generating heat such as your 6870's.
that is the only time you'd notice a difference between intake and exhaust.
try it as exhaust, (make sure your 6870's are chugging away as well to get worst case scenario)
if you net higher temps it will most likely be MARGINAL.

on a side note, your temps are fantastic, you can overclock until your ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM NOT EXCEEDED BY ANY CORE is 85c
and make sure your vcore isnt over 1.55 but im sure you'd run into temperature issues long before you even get close to that voltage.

another note, is if you hate DUST in your chassis.
leaving your fan configuration AS IS, gives you positive air pressure
and will decrease your collection of dust.

The good thing about having the H60 mounted in my 5.25" drive bays as intake is that the 200mm Top Exhaust fan and 120mm CM R4 fan on the rear will expell any hot air brought into the case. Especially with me pulling cold air in from the front bottom 200MM Intake and 120MM Intake on the bottom. Overall I think my system will run nice and cool.
