12 core solutions will not appear on FM1. Thank You for the correction.
(Hopefully the cooler will be compatible with the FM2 socket, and 12 core APUs may appear on FM2.)

Doubt it, FM2 is still budget/mainstream platform. Maybe hex core but not 12 core.

FM1 cooler SHOULD fit on FM2, after all FM2 has one less pin than FM1, so their socket size are the same.

AMD has used the same cooler mounting for a millenia so I doubt highly they will change it. Hence why am3 coolers use the same mounting as fm1.

Just did a 3870K build so far just did the easy tune overclock and OC'd my 1600 ram to 1700 and everything was stable so i went is little more FSB to 130 x26 and wouldnt complete post just froze Im not a huge overclocker just cause most my rigs have had been low budge' and i couldnt really get much out of them, so for me this is new territory cause this a8 is asking to be OC'ed and not exactly sure about if i should try to push the graphics first then cpu? or vice versa? will 1 effect the other as far as heat is concerned? i also read on this thread about ACHI vs IDE mode but not sure if i should change this since i am running SSD and was told i should definitely have it set ACHI. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

BUILD
Gigabyte A75-D3H
2x2 GEIL corsa 1600 DDR3
APU 3870K black edition
Zalman Performa 92mm
NZXT gamma case
Sandisk SSD 128gb
Seasonic 520w modular

also not sure if i should run UMA graphics 512 AUTO or 1024 whether there would be any performance increase, and if so should i get more ram since i would be down to about 3gb for system

When you increase the base clock it ovclocks the RAM speed to so you may need to use your 1600 speed RAM in the 1333 preset to keep it in check. As raising the base clock will increase RAM speeds above the set value. IDE mode is much better for overclocking llano but you may be bottlenecking your SSDs performance.

OK thanks thats what i figured i think ill leave it AHCI. Wondering now to try adding voltage to get over 128 base clock or leave it at that and work on the GPU. THe easytune 6 auto my RAM to 1333 when i so i set it back to 1600 and with increase base was running at 1705 on P95 stable just for a couple minutes though. Kinda overwhelmed right now Gigabyte bios has a lot of tweaking ability half of it i've never heard of till now thumb.gif

Hey guys,

I'm making an APU build for my wife and I was wonder about 2 things before I order..

1. Does the H60 mounting fit on it? I know AMD barely changes there stuff, but I thought with this new socket, better save then sorry. The website says; AMD AM2, AMD AM3, no FM1?

2. RAM, I was never really clear about RAM, would this dual set be any good? (mobo: Asus F1A75-M PRO)

If all fits, I'll soon be joining this club. smile.gif

1. It uses the same mounting as am3 so all am3 coolers will fit onto fm1 motherboards.
2. Yes that kit looks good llano likes speed more than timings, the faster the better.
