Enabling NAT?

Thread Starter
Ok so i have jumped into my router and found a few settings that where disabled, now my network is unprotected at the moment as i dont know how to input WEP keys on w2000 but thats not for this thread.

My question is about NAT, when usign torrents the donwlaod manager says about NAT support not being on and im guessing this is why my torrents go slow.
But is that really true?
What are the implications if i enable NAT, etc?

Also uPNP, i swear a few progs use this but its disabled in my router.

Image dump of what is says on my router:
Attachment 32155

So what should i do people?

Cheers,
-Ace-

Hey, i see from your image dump that you use a Belkin Router

If so, you have to enable the curr. ports your using through virtual servers, like, for example, i use the port 50015 for TCP - NAT, and UDP - Dht Distribution. if that doesnt work, you could try a static Ip adress through the "DMZ" location, and change the Ip (and also enable it!!) to whatever i.p adress you are using

This site here helped me tremendously in setting up my westell 6100 which thankfully not only had an PassthroughNAT but the site also explained to me on how to setup up my specific modem and how to configure ports. Also includes a listing of most programs and what ports they use
Hope it helps

to find out the IP of your computer do:

START -> RUN -> cmd -> ipconfig /all

this will tell you your IP address.

Then go into your browser and log into the router (Belkin usually //192.168.2.1)
and look for port forwarding or firewall or applications/gaming etc......somewhere that you can specify ports for a specific IP or range etc.

Here enter the ports that your torrent client is needing to access and specify the IP of the computer that you want to use the torrent client on.
