[Build Log] Core i7 rig; Needs a Name, open to suggestions.56k no likey. (who actually has 56k anymore...?)

We shall call this build log: "The College Apartment Build; or, 'Side-Effects of Spending your Savings on a Wide Angle Lens".

Just some quick photos because this was awesome and fun smile.gif

375

Unboxing goodness
375

Motherboard tray in, CPU and heatsink installed.
375

16gb DDR3 1600 smile.gif . It's really incredible waiting so long between builds (last full system(sig rig) was in 2005-2006); I remember seeing DDR3 for $600 for a 6GB kit.
375

PSU and GPU in, beginning cable routing
375

375

Same story here. The floods and skyrocketing prices of hard drives drove me to take the SSD route, and I'm glad. This thing is absolutely BLAZING fast. I copied 2.5GB of music files from one folder to another in about half a second or so with the 6gb/s SATA connection. I sat staring at the screen for a second after that happened, thinking the transfer had errored out or something. Awesome.
375

Everything installed, cables tidied, peripheral PCI-E cards installed.
375

Let us all take a moment and remember I3i0HaZarD (read: Never let your 13-year-old self name a computer). I was legitimately sad when I shut down that system for the last time, it treated me well. Speaking of which, parting that sucker out if anyone wants parts.
375

And all put together and running smile.gif
375
375

All drivers installed, Win7 64bit, idling at around 23C smile.gif <3 computers.

This needs a good name, seriously. I wasn't joking about that.

The lens looks to be worth it biggrin.gif

Hmm, how about "A 13-year Old Didn't Name This One"? Or "My Camera Costs More Than My Computer, I Think I'm On The Wrong Forum" tongue.gif

Oh dude, you have no idea. It took me forever to save up for this system because whenever I'd get enough money, I'd go buy a new lens and my computer fund would plummet straight back to zero.

Good start, but lacks the 13-year-old staying power of I3i0HaZarD. I mean, seriously.
