Which Set of 2 x 512 Geil/GSkill?

post #1 of 13
Thread Starter
Which set Dual Channel 2 X 512MB kit?

For use with GA-965P-DS3 and C2D E6300.
Want to hit 3.0Ghz.

Geil
White = GX21GB6400DCK
Orange = GX21GB6400UDC

GSkill
Green = F2-6400PHU2
Red = F2-6400CL5D
Blue = F2-6400CL4D

I've heard these are issues invloving voltage and the DS3, requiring booting with a subsitute stick and changing the bios to the proper voltage.

I was kinda wanting to avoid that.

Thanks

Are those sticks gonna boot @ 2.0v, without another ddr2 set to make the bios change?

Rest assured, ALL G.Skill HZ series RAM boot on the DS3/DS4, because they can run at the forced low voltage (1.8V) on first boot.

You might want to look into these

They are at DDR2-800 4-4-4-10 at 1.9-1.9V! I bet you could overclock them to DDR2-1000 with ease.

I'll be picking up a set of these.

Ok here's what I'm ordering Friday.

Intel C2D E6300

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
Sapphire X1600 Pro (Newegg throws it in for $70 with the DS3, fine for now.)
Seagate 7200.10 250GB 3.0Gb/s SATA
Sunbeam NUUO 550W
CoolerMaster Centurion 5
LG 16X Super Multi DVD

and either
Gskill 2x512MB HZ
or
Xtreem 2x512MB

Which RAM would you get? and do you see any changes you'de make?

I'm thinking not bad for under $800?

Thanks in advance,
New here and this whole site has helped me pick out all this stuff over the past 2 weeks.

G.skill: 4-4-4-12 @2.0-2.1V DDR2-800

Team Xtreeme: 4-4-4-10 @1.8-1.9V DDR2-800

I believe the Team ram will overclock better due to the lower timings and voltage.
