[Build Log] Its SOOO Ugly. ლ(ಠ_ಠლ).

I got boored and finally came home so I made this (see below) this afternoon.
Its an UGLY box, the material iv chosen 18guage... aluminum for lack of funds this time around redface.gif.

Its more of a proof of concept than a final product. In the next few months I will crank out a MUCH nicer case that is properly sized (this one is gihugegantanormous!) with an lga2011 MATX board. But until then feast your yes upon the monstrosity that I have created and dubbed.
BIG'N UGLY

So I came home today at (yesterday) 3pm to a workbench that looked kinda like this.700

Than BAM this happened!

Not bad for a days work I suppose, and yeah it can be said its not a "FULL" scratch build... but I dont care im the only one who is going to sit next to it.

More updates tomorrow.

Some clarification
This build is build around my current system (in sig) but will be upgraded over time (this is going to be a loooong build) and hopefully will last a few years.
That being said...
Anybody wanna sell me a reference GTX 480 for sli?, just pm me.
Il make a wanted add too

The case's external dims are 19" high x 13" long x 7" deep.
And believe me I have "tweaked" the case quite a bit to allow for that.

Originally I designed the case an an MATX case so it was exactly 2" shorter.
In that configuration I crammed a KOOLANCE pmp400 with a 30x60mm res on top and still had room to play with.
Now that the case has gained 2" in height there is plenty of room for that pump and res (possibly a 60mm now).
That and there is ample room to rout 3/8"OD lines allover the place, albeit conservatively because there is "JUST" enough room to do so with a little wiggle.

Visual proof:

as for converting to DXF files I used a sketchup plugin that easily downloadable.

you would be surprised at how fast things can come together in SU especially once you get the hang of it, its a pretty powerful little program. Tbh its much further along than what I used in high school a few years ago for drafting classes. to top that off its free. thumb.gif

But yeah... Iv got allot of patience haha.

I believe I forgot to mention this is the first post but I will also be building my own heavy duty fan controller.

I'm looking at the potentiometers stocked at Mcmaster-Carr but they have odd ways of rating there products in terms of wattage?
I'm no tech guru here so could I get a hand in figuring out there wattage ratings?

I'm looking for 25-50watt potentiometers.
There smallest ones are listed as "2@ 450v" but that's gobbleygook to me because I don't know what that means...

Here is the page [=http://www.mcmaster.com/#speed-pots/=fv1v9f]Mcmaster-Carr[/]

Also what resistance rating should I be looking at for an effective controller, as in running them from full blast to barely moving?

One thing I take into account with my water builds is, just what is exposed to damage from water and just where is the potential source of this water. This is why I would never put the radiator and the hoses/connections to this radiator above just about everything electrical. I do make some accomodations for both the worst case (massive leak from a hose that came loose) or a very real possibility (just a slow one drip every 30 seconds leak). I build with a "OK you want to drip (as swivel fittings often will) you are not going to drip on anything you can damage".
