Download gpu-z, check asic quality, get afterburner and adjust voltage accordingly. Worked for me as i had the exact same issue as you with games like crysis 2 where the screen goes black and the driver crashes

Ok I installed all that and ran Crysis 2 in window mode, the GPU temps hit 53c before it started to crash but then it recovered. I turned auto fan off and set the fan to 100% and it was liking that. It then crashed and recovered and windows poped up with the error msg " driver has stoped responding but has recovered". I have no idea what voltages would be best as I'm still new to this:rolleyes: and advice?

The exact same issue that I had. What was your asic quality? In afterburner go to settings and check unlock voltage control to unlock it. My pc is stable on 1149 mv, depending on your asic quality you may need more but i'd say 1149 - 1179 should solve your issue. If not pm me and i'll give you another suggestion which saved me from rma'ing my 7970

Btw run crysis on full screen! lol
