well i am running a 130W processor, so you may not need quite that much, but still even in non sli you will be contributing 300+ watts to a gpu...

The 7970 is not a 300W card.

my 2 cents: if you are sure about the card(s) you want and are not planning going to higher performance bracket ever then get a quality 650w psu but even if you are a little unsure about what performance bracket you want to upgrade to in the future get a 750W and be done worst case with a 750W is that you wont be able to use 3-4 cards in the future(not that you would need to) and by the time it rolls around where tri and quad card setups actually giver you more performance than just 2, they will probably run on 750W anyway.

edit after reading some more: get a 750w do not get a 650w because you are getting dual high end cards in the future but do not do more as cards are getting more and more efficient every generation and tri and quad card setups do not do anything near what they should currently

With your setup I would do at least a 750-850W. I feel those 1000-1200W are massive overkill but depending on what you're running sometimes it's needed. Looks like a good build too, good luck with it.
