560 Ti Random Black Screens

Thread Starter
Hey I've been having a problem with my video card (it my be my mobo) but sometimes my screen goes black randomly and then back to normal. Happens pretty rarely, but it does happen. It is stock, its not OCed. EVGA 560 Ti FPB to be exact.
Is it a driver problem or is my card going to die on me?

Do you have MSI afterburner?

Do you have Nvidia control panel power mangement set to maxium performance?

Also I would try the newest beta Nvidia 290.53 I believe.

No I don't have MSI afterburner and yes I do have Nvidea control panel but I never skewed with the settings.
I believe the newest driver out is the beta version?

Does it ever say DRIVER stopped working and has recovered in the bottom right as a tooltip. I realize that's pretty blatant, maybe you should check your event log after it happens, see if there's any trace. Or of course if you could remember an instance when it happened you may be able to have a look.

It sounds like a driver crash but, can't be sure. tiredsmiley.gif

No I never got that error. It just happens randomly but it had never happened during gaming. Just casually using the computer.
Sorry but where is the log event located?

Re-seat the card. Make sure it's making the best possible contact in the slot and the metal bracket is firmly secured.

Edit....
The screenshot was a little overkill, just search for 'event viewer' in your search bar and it should come up.

Yup I did that also.
I do leave my comp on for days at a time, maybe it just over processes?? I play BF3 mostly so maybe there's some sort of memory leak in the game? But that would crash my computer completely I believe. bah I don't know.

Do you have the latest firmware for the card? There were some stability improvements.
