Which way to go with this case mod?

Thread Starter
I'm halfway through with modding my old $20 case to improve cooling. I've got two 4.5 inch holes cut in the front plastic bevel to mount 120mm fans. They will mount to the underside of the bevel, but on top (outside of) of the steel (between the bevel and the steel). I had originally planned to drill hundreds of holes in the steel for the fans to push the air through, but it would be far easier and improve airflow to just cut one or two big holes instead. I know part of the reason the metal is there in the first place is to shield the parts against electromagnetic radiation (EMR). Should this be a concern, or would I be okay just cutting big air holes.

Here's a shot of the front bevel on the case with one of the two front fans just stuck in place for illustration:

And here's the underside of the bevel showing my foam-board and hot glue ghetto air duct. You can see a black mark on the metal where I traced where the air duct hits it.

I don't think EMR is an issue... cut all you want.

Metal is there for structural rigidity not for EMR. Cut away!!

as t-ramp said, EMR is not a issue. I highly doubt you are around something that gives off enough EMR to mess with your computer. If you were, any small hole or crack the case already had would let EMR in anyways.
