Need perfection...

Thread Starter
Hey guys I need some help... I am getting a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 on friday with Corsair Memory Vengeance 16 GB Dual Channel Kit DDR3 1600 .... I read in some places that the bios needs some tickling tongue.gif in order to get the memory running at full speed (1600)... Any views? ... any experiences?

You just have to set the XMP profile it will set everything by itself.

What cpu?
Im running 2ghz stuff in my 990fxa-ud3

If your getting a phenom 2 chip then F5 bios is the best one.
If your getting a FX chip then F6c is the best, F5 wont work with FX properly and F6f all the voltage contols are broken.

It's in the motherboard settings, you'll have overclock options and you'll be able to select XMP Profile which will set the memory timings and voltage for you.
XMP is for Intel platforms am I wrong? You almost always have to set timings manually with AMD. I think phenom 2s only support DDR3 1333? You have to overclock to get it to run at 1600, I think. Someone should be able to help you more than me though

If your ram has an xmp profile the just set it to x8.00,set timings and volts and it will run fine at 1600.Though you may/maynot need to raise the cpu/nb volts a tad with 4 dimms.

This my mushkin with xmp.
